Patent for a new and improved uncoupling device for railroad cars. This design consists in "a draw-head provided with a vertically-movable coupling-pin support and lifting frame, a spring holding the coupling-pin support in raised position, a catch for holding the pin-support in lowered position, and a lever mechanism for releasing the catch and effecting the uncoupling of a car" (lines 7-14).

Patent for a new and improved car-truck. This design "relates to railway-car trucks; and it consists in providing the axle inside the wheel with a supplementary journal and shoulder and a supplementary journal-box supported above the inside journal by the truck-frame, said supplementary journal-box being immediately over the inside journal and arranged so as to support the truck on the inside journal should the outside journal become broken or inoperative by means of a hot box or otherwise" (lines 10-20).

Patent for a new and improved car-ventilator. This design consists in "an eduction pipe arranged lengthwise of the car" (lines 103-104). It further consists in a casing "at the end of the pipe, the fan-wheel mounted upon a shaft within said casing, [another] casing arranged adjacent to the [first] casing, a fan-wheel arranged within [a third] casing upon an extension of the shaft, and valves in the eduction pipe, to be opened and closed by the air" (lines 1-7).

Patent for improvements in the construction of roofs, including instruction.

Patent for a new and improved supporter for the abdomen during pregnancy. This design "consists of an abdominal sack for the support of the abdomen in pregnancy, which is contrived with supporting-bands adapted for supporting it from the shoulders of the wearer, where the weight can be best sustained, and so as to entirely avoid the belt commonly used, and thus relieve the stomach and liver from the pressure and irritation which it produces" (lines 7-15).

Patent for a mailing box with curves and grooves to fit the cover and securing string with illustrations and assembly instructions.

Patent for an attached coach and car step "to render it unnecessary to carry stools or stepping-boxes, as are now used to facilitate passengers to get on or off the car or coach from an extra height between the ground or depot-floor and the main bottom tread of the step, thus avoiding dangerous and fatal results from overturning of stools and boxes." Patent for a machine to bore square holes in substitute for a chisel and reduce labor, including illustration. The inventor calls it a "Mortise and Tenon Machine."

Patent for "improvements in locks, having special reference to locks for the doors of freight-cars; and it has for its object to provide a strong lock so constructed as to be comparatively safe from the attacks of lockpickers" (lines 8-13).

Patent for an improved fire escape "apparatus for receiving without injury persons or goods falling from windows of burning buildings" (line 18-20).

Patent for a machine that transplants small plants while avoiding "clogging of the mud in soft soil" (line 20). It has a cylindrical cutter and a cylindrical plunger that fits just inside it. The plunger is usually away from the base of the cutter, and an adjustable rod extends from the plunger.

Patent for a mail handling device that mounts into a train car to assist in loading and unloading of mail bags.

Patent for an improvement in pumps and "has for its object the provision of a pump providing a counterbalance for the weight of the column of liquid in the suction pipe provided by a vacuum chamber in the pump" (lines 10-14). Illustration included.

Patent for a new and improved snath fastener. This design "relates to devices for attaching scythes to their handles; and it consists in certain improvements in the construction of the same" (lines 17-20).

Patent for a spring wheel designed to resist weight pressure. Illustrations included.

Patent for a combined train car that can "be adapted for day use a parlor or chair car, and may be readily converted into a sleeping-car with independent state-rooms, thus insuring privacy and comfort to passengers" (lines 16-20) thus saving achieving maximum efficiency of space.

Patent for "a railroad weed-burning device in which a large sheet-iron shield is suspended underneath and between the trucks of any ordinary railroad car for the purpose of confining the flame and heat produced by oil-atomizing burners or other means to direct and maintain continued contact with grass and weeds on the ground between and along the outside of the rails" (lines 9-18).

Patent for a drawing table. This invention provides "support of a roll of paper or drawings beneath the top of the table in such a manner as to facilitate the unwinding of the roll" (line 9-11). Illustrations included.
