Patent for a new and improved bobbin-winder for sewing machines. This design consists in "the combination, with the shaft provided with a screw-threaded aperture at one end and having a groove formed near the other end, and a carrying pulley, of the spindle provided with a threaded extension entering said screw-threaded aperture of the shaft, said spindle having a taper and made of highly tempered metal" (lines 66-73).

Patent for a new and improved well bucket. This design consists in "[t]he combination of a body having a valve-seat facing downward in its bottom, a valve having a conical guide upon its upper surface, a flange at its lower end bearing against the seat with a washer and formed with an upwardly-projecting eye or link at its top, and a rod for the attachment of the hoisting-rope passing out at the top of the bucket and having an eye at its lower end connected to the eye of the link" (lines 40-49).
