Patent for gun locks: "This invention relates to the arrangement of a complete hair trigger for Colt's revolving pistols, which is so constructed that it may be adjusted to anyone of said pistols without the assistance of a gunsmith, the only tool required for the purpose being a screw driver." Patent for an invention of a powder that is said to aid in curing scurvy. The patent includes a description, instructions, but no illustration(s).

Patent for improvements in railroad-station indicators to indicate to passengers the next stations and the distances between them.

Patent for an "improved machine designed especially for pulling cotton-stalks, but which may be used with advantage for pulling other stalks, weeds, &c., and which shall be so constructed as to clear itself of the stalks as they are pulled" (para. 4).

Patent for a new combination/convertible spade and hoe design with instructions and illustrations.

Patent for a new and improved thermometer. This design has "[u]pon the body of the instrument a scale, preferably equivalent to the centigrade . . . in which the zero-sign is placed at the normal temperature of the body, each degree being divided into five or ten parts according to the size of the instrument and reading supernormal and subnormal degrees" (lines 20-26).

Patent for a new and improved design for freight car coupling. This design calls for a sliding block, with the assistance of metal pins, to lock the link between two freight cars firmly in place. This eliminates the possibility of accidental disconnect.

Patent for a new and improved vehicle. This design "is to provide a vehicle in which a person can ride over rough ground without serious inconvenience or discomfort incident to travel over such roads. . . . [and] to so construct a gig that a person can get into the same without serious inconvenience, and to this end it is made low, the rear of the shafts being extended in line with the axle and the step secured to the shaft and extending somewhat below it. . . . [and] to provide a gig with springs that will work in two directions—laterally and vertically" (lines 20-34).

Patent for a new and improved dress-stay. This design "is to avoid the use of paste or stitches in connection with the application of the stay, as well as to provide a stay which may be readily detached and reattached in case it be desired to change the location of the seam in order to make the garment either larger or smaller. To this end the invention consists in a stay-body of steel, whalebone, or some other resilient material inclosed within a suitable casing, and wire fasteners passing through said body, through the outer side of said casing, and through the edges of the seam at either side" (lines 10-23).

Patent for a design for a pair of overalls that has a lengthened apron over the pant legs. This apron is fastened from its center down to its crotch.
