Patent for "a simple and inexpensive apparatus for drilling the rock and earth until sufficient loose material has accumulated in the shaft, and then remove such material by the pressure of an aeriform fluid - such as steam or compressed air" (lines 23-29).

Patent for a new and improved multi-tool. This design consists in "the combination of the two overlapping fulcrumed or pivoted levers having handles and forward ends of flattened crescent shape bent in reverse directions to cause their extreme reduced ends to abut to form nippers, and provided with beveled shoulders at the bases of their inner edges to form cutters and with serrated projections in rear of the pivot or fulcrum, and an angular arm movably attached to said pivot or fulcrum, carrying a receptacle adapted to be adjusted under the nippers for the reception of staples" (lines 29-42).

Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design consists in "the combination of the draw-heads provided with forwardly-projecting portions having curved faces and notches in the rear thereof, bails pivoted centrally on vertical pins passing through the center of the draw-heads, springs exerting a rearward pressure on the rear ends of the bails, and chains secured to the forward ends of the bails to move them in opposition to the pressure of their springs" (lines 78-87).

Patent for improvements in trucks for carrying bricks.

Patent for "a new and useful composition of matter to be used for the prevention of heat caused from friction and attrition in the use and operation of all kinds of machinery, including railroad engines and cars, and all parts thereof" (lines 5-9).

Patent for improvement in "tools for drilling or boring Artesian, oil, and other deep wells; and it has for its object to prevent the loss of the drill or auger or of any portion of the drill-rods" (lines 9-13) via an "improved means for connecting the tool to the lower end of the drill-rod" (lines 15-16) including illustrations.

Patent for a new and improved foot for sand levers. This design consists in "the combination of the semi-cylindrical bearing having an aperture formed in its center, a cylindrical body working in the said bearing and having a square intermediate portion adapted to fit in the same aperture, upward-extending wings made integral with the body and forming a socket, and a lever fitting in the said socket" (lines 29-37).

Patent for a new and improved jetty. This design "is to provide structures . . . for protecting shores, and other similar work. . . . [The] invention consists, mainly, in the utilization of a central or interior core of clay, or clayey substance, about which is formed a retaining envelope in connection with suitable substructures, coping, walls, and tracks" (lines 15-27).
