Patent for a cotton chopper that has advantages in point of simplicity, durability, and general efficiency because it is adapted to operate crosswise with relation to the rows.

Patent for "a simple and inexpensive apparatus for drilling the rock and earth until sufficient loose material has accumulated in the shaft, and then remove such material by the pressure of an aeriform fluid - such as steam or compressed air" (lines 23-29).

Patent for metal brooms or brushes that are "strong and durable, relatively light in weight, and can be inexpensively manufactured" (line 13-15). It is intended for "sweeping snow, mud, slush, and the like" (line 16-17). The patent can also be applied for smaller version of metal brooms or brushes for other purposes.

Patent for a hoe with "a colter shank at the oval top, affording means whereby the hoe may clear itself from large branching weeds, which is frequently a trouble met with in using hoes having a shank in the center."

Patent for a hopper door especially designed to be used "with a vertically movable weighing hopper adapted to receive and weigh cotton seed" (lines 10-12). The specifics of how the door is hinged and operates is especially important to the design.

Patent for a new and improved pair of fire tongs. This design consists of "[a] guide device for preventing the legs of fire-tongs from crossing, consisting of a wing-plate having at one end an open eye to fit about one leg of the tongs, and attached thereto . . . and a slot-piece having open eyes to fit about the other leg, and a straight part attached to the said eyes and forming the slot through which the wing may move freely" (lines 91-99).

Patent for a new and improved foot for sand levers. This design consists in "the combination of the semi-cylindrical bearing having an aperture formed in its center, a cylindrical body working in the said bearing and having a square intermediate portion adapted to fit in the same aperture, upward-extending wings made integral with the body and forming a socket, and a lever fitting in the said socket" (lines 29-37).

Patent for an improved quilting frame that is designed around a folding trestle-frame and two parallel rollers on which a quilt can be rolled, leaving the material between the rollers to be quilted/worked on. Illustration includes a perspective and detail view of the frame.

Patent for "a press by means of which the cotton can be backed and pressed into the bale in small quantities at a time, by alternating pressing a quantity, then lifting the follower, and inserting more, and pressing again, and so on until the bale is formed." Patent for an obstetrical device that consists of metal knee braces and hand holds, which allows pressure to be exerted on the knees by either the patient or a doctor which helps the mother's pushing power to increase and shorten labor.
