Patent for "provide a metallic packing for piston-rods that is self-adjusting; secondly, to provide a packing the parts of which are so arranged as to avoid any escape of steam through the gland of the stuffing-box; thirdly, to provide a packing that does not require a lubricator; fourthly, to provide a packing that relieves the piston of all friction, except when steam is admitted to stuffing-box end of cylinder" (lines 19-27).

Patent for a new and improved wagon jack. This design consists "[i]n a wagon body raiser, the combination of vertical supports, a lever pivotally supported therefrom between its ends and having a roller in one end, a shaft adapted to be secured to one end of the body, a cord having one end connected with the same end of the body as the shaft and passing over the roller and its opposite end attached to the shaft, and a cord attached to the opposite end of the body and to the adjacent end of the lever" (lines 69-78).

Patent for a new and improved wire-tightener. This design consists, "with a curved metallic bar having a central groove in its convex side, and aligned openings of different diameters in the sides of the groove, of the looping-pin having two tapering arms at an angle to each other and of different sizes" (lines 78-83).

Patent for a new and improved stump-puller. This design consists, "with the main beam, of the rigid crosstree arranged transversely of the same and provided at its end with loose casters, and a pivoted axle or tree terminating in axle-bearings and provided with wheels, and means for adjusting the pivoted crosstree with relation to the beam and rigid crosstree" (lines 11-18).

Patent for a topical remedy for the local treatment of rheumatism, neuralgia, paralysis and gout.

Patent for a new and improved pump. This design consists, "with the working-barrel, of a casing or shell secured to the lower end of said barrel, the said shell tapering downward and being provided with an annular shoulder on its inner surface, a valve-seat provided with an annular flange and downward elastic extensions constructed to close against said shell and rest on said shoulder, and a valve-cage connected with said seat and containing a valve" (lines 82-91).

Patent for a new and improved hen's nest. This design "relates to that type of hen-nest wherein a tilting platform is employed to protect the setting hen from intrusion while permitting her to freely pass to and from the nest. The objects of [the] invention are to improve the prior construction and to provide novel means whereby the hen setting or hatching chamber is separated from the passage containing the tilting platform by a division-wall having a rear doorway, in such manner that the eggs are isolated and in a measure hid and protected while the hen is seeking food" (lines 8-20).

Patent for a design for "improvements in balance or fly wheels, and is adapted to be applied to many different classes of machinery" (lines 15-17). Includes illustrations.

Patent for "an improvement in center tables, seeking to provide a simple convenient construction of extension-table, Which can be easily extended or contracted, by which the objectionable center leg can be dispensed with, and in which the main or center portion Will be firmly supported at all times" (lines 7-13).

Patent for a new evaporator design used for evaporating cane-juice, including illustrations.

Patent for a new and improved plow. This design consists in a plow-beam "having a downwardly-projecting extension or arm at its rear end and a plow-standard pivoted to the beam in front of said extension, of a plate connecting said standard and extension and adapted to slide vertically thereon and an adjusting screw for operating said plate" (lines 1-7).

Patent for a new and improved plow. This design is "to provide a plow adapted for steady and easy running, capable of combining therewith various styles of shovels or shears, and so constructing said plow as to be readily adjusted to form furrows of varying depths" (lines 9-14). This design consists, "with the beam and the loosely-depending standard provided at its lower end with a shovel, of the angular brace pivoted at its angle to the standard, adjustably connected at its upper end or branch to the beam, and having its lower end adapted to travel along the furrow in rear of the shovel" (lines 7-14).

Patent for a new and improved mosquito-net frame. This design "has for its object to provide a frame . . . capable of convenient attachment to or of detachment from any bedstead, and which when attached will be firmly braced and firmly held against lateral movement" (lines 9-14). It consists, "with the standards having tenons at their upper ends, the rear and side bars having eyes receiving said tenons, and a front bar connecting the front ends of bars, of the horizontal angle-plates mounted at their rear ends on the ends of the bar" (lines 22-28).

Patent for a new and improved gage. This design consists in "the gage-bar provided at both ends with spring-clasps for engaging the platen, combined with gage-pins doubled upon themselves at their inner ends and engaging the gage bar and adjustable laterally" (lines 83-88).
