Enclosed in the letter is information about the conference, to be held from Janurary 12 -14, 1995 at the Washington Hilton and Towers. Duke has included details about hotel reservations and travel arrangements that the guests will be needing to make in preparation of the event. Special arrangements will be provided for the guests such as covering the lodging, airfare transportation, and expenses including meals. Included in this letter is an attached conference agenda as scheduled for the guests upon arrival. Agenda is not present with letter.

The recommendation letter is in regards to the news of the Met's consideration of having one of UNT's graduate students, Rebecca Arkenberg, hold an internship in Howes's department. McCarter goes on to write about how wonderful of a student Arkenberg is and that he'll be sad to see her go but her skills are superb beyond others and her work with North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts is exemplary.

Photocopy of a letter from Bill McCarter, co-director of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Leilani Lattin Duke, director of the Getty Center. McCarter writes that he has reviewed the draft of the National Arts Standards, paying close attention to the implication for aesthetics in art. Describing his recent trip to Canada, McCarter mentions that many presentations encountered the same problems in identifying common traits found in art. McCarter continues to say he does not see the dilemma in using the word aesthetic as it means various things to different people.
