She expresses her appreciation to Carswell for his assistance and advises him that nothing was said by California regarding the tools belonging to subject. Davis expresses his appreciation for the letter advising him of the support of Carswell's Senator for Dr. Bradfield's confirmation. Davis touches on an exciting event and promises that he will send a self-explanatory letter regarding "a calvacade of youth to Austin" requesting that Carswell get Abilene's support.

Roberts presents to Carswell the list of names of officers elected at a meeting held in Haskell: Montgomery, R. C., Couch, R. C., Williams, Rev. C. W., Short, Aubrey, Rule, Terry, Pierson, A. C. He notes there was a nice crowd and explains that R. C. Montgomery, who was elected Chairman, was many years earlier the Chairman of the first Local Option Campaign in Haskell.

Carswell requests of the Vice-Chairman to help the Pastors of the different churches in their county to organize and put over the Car Cavalcade of Youth to the Capital. "We, in the 24th District, are vitally concerned since we must feel the humiliation of having liquor sold in our counties when we have voted it out by substantial majorities." An attachment includes a list of names of Vice-Chairmen to whom letters were sent regarding the Car Cavalcade of Youth to the Capital.

In postscript, Davis requests Carswell's opinion regarding asking Merkel, Tuscola and Caps to join their field day at Abilene.

Carswell expresses his appreciation to Applewhite for his telephone call confirming that he will be at the conference in Sweetwater in the First Baptist Church and offers to speak on Sunday morning.

A letter written to Dr. Jeff Davis, Dallas, Texas from T. N. Carswell dated February 23, 1942. Carswell confirms commitments from fourteen churches for participation in the Field Day scheduled for March 8, advising Davis that the people are expecting to sign a petition to the President to ban manufacture and sale of alcoholic liquor and beer during war as a national defense measure.

McKenzie advises Carswell of his election as a member of the Executive Committee which is comprised of 25 members. Mahon discourses on the repeal of the Taft-Hartley Bill and the adoption of the so-called Civil Rights Program and on the reason Truman took Texas in the election. He states that there are many things advocated by the Democratic platform and the President which he cannot and will not support and advises of the need for economy in the regular agencies of the government but not the military. In discussing Carswell's references to Mahon's Senatorial possiblities Mahon agrees that is takes "many thousands of dollars" to run for the Senate; "It is a weakness of our democracy that men must often compromise themselves in order to get money to finance state-wide campaigns", but he promises to keep Carswell's thoughts in that "connection" in mind.

Burleson writes relative to questions Carswell mentioned in the poll submitted by Burleson. He explains his vote on labor issues involving the Wood Amendment, the Taft-Hartley Law and the Wagner Act citing a difference of opinion and impression by Houston Harte, Editor of The San Angelo Standard-Times. Burleson expresses his hope to be able to discuss the issues more fully with Carswell.

A letter written to Judge James P. McGranery, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from T. N. Carswell, dated February 21, 1953. Carswell advises McGranery that he had written to Chairman McCarran and to both Texas Senators in opposition to his confirmation but decided that after McGranery began his duties he felt he had misinterpreted his "calibre as a man and official". He expresses his appreciation for what McGranery did for the country.
