A letter written to Charles Whitacre, District Commander, American Legion, Lubbock, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, Fifth Division Commander, American Legion, dated October 28, 1942. Carswell requests a reply to his letter of October 22 and advises of the need for Whitacre's recommendations. He expresses his deepest regret for the loss of Whitacre's home.

A letter written to Hon. Max McCullough, Regional Director, Office of Price Administration, Dallas, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, dated September 28, 1942. Carswell explains to McCullough that he wrote to Mark McGee of Fort Worth regarding a job and in his reply McGee suggested that Carswell should write to McCullough.

Carswell advises of his concern after reading an excerpt from Drew Pearson's news letter appearing in The Dallas News October 22, 1942 regarding The Maritime Commission on June 8, 1940 selling five ships to the Waterman Steamship Company. He requests an answer from Judge Russell on whether or not it is a statement of fact.

Letter written to Rev. W. C. Ashford, Pastor, South Side Baptist Church, Abilene, Texas from Jeff Davis dated May 28, 1942. Temperance Field Day June 14th. Davis advises Ashford of an enclosed copy of Dr. Well's sermon and of the campaign to urge National Congress to pass Senate Bill 860. There is a handwritten note by Carswell written at the top of the page confirming that this is a copy of a letter which is to be sent to "all of the pastors".
