He thinks they can keep the bill tied up in the committee and wants to avoid any possible fighting. He also mentions extending Highway 36 from Abilene to Roby which he says would need the full support of the people in Fisher County.

A letter written to Tom [Carswell], from Joe Culbertson, Hamlin, Texas, dated February 21, 1955. Culbertson expresses his appreciation for the talk by Carswell at Hamlin Lions Club, Friday night, calling it a masterpiece.

A letter written to Major L. E. Newton, Rotan, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, Major, 10th Battalion, T.D.G, dated February 13, 1941. Carswell commends Newton on the work his Home Defense Unit is doing, advises that he is writing Col. Banister with reference to his unit and presumes that Newton sent a copy of the report to the Adjutant General.
