A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, 5th Division Commander, Abilene, Texas, from Wyatt W. Lipscomb, Albany, Texas, dated October 2, 1942. Lipscomb brags on the success of the Albany membership drive for The American Legion and advises of their plans to celebrate with a big barbeque. The guest list includes The Department Commander, Adjutant, Chaplain, the 5th Division Commander (The Honorable T. N. Carswell), the 17th District Commander, Major Federbush of Camp Barkeley who will bring some officers from the Camp, and Ed Riedel.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Wyatt W. Lipscomb, Albany, Texas, dated November 22, 1942. Lipscomb advises of the enclosed clipping from one of their two local newspapers of an article written by himself relative to the proper consideration of Armistice. He complains that the other newspaper destroyed the intent of the article by leaving out the last paragraph. Lipscomb extends an invitation to Carswell and to his wife to attend an event to be held at their Legion Hall adding that he hopes his gasoline will not be too limited for the trip. Enclosure includes: "November 11, 1942" by Wyatt W. Lipscomb. Article printed by The Shackelford County Leader, Chas. A. Fryar, Publisher, Albany, Texas. The reverse side of clipping includes the articles: "Questionnaires Go To Teen Age Boys"; "Week's Honor roll At Red Cross Room"; "Albany Soldier Here Tells of Jap Raids In Aleutian Islands".

[Letter from T. N. Carswell to Wyatt W. Lipscomb - December 14, 1942]

A letter written to Mr. Wyatt W. Lipscomb, Albany, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, dated December 14, 1942. Carswell offers the explanation regarding his receipt a few days ago of Lipscomb's letter dated November 22nd which accounted for his not being with them on December 3rd. He advises of a similar incident which caused him to miss another event held in Mineral Wells and so ends his letter advising that "war has its drawbacks" that they "must take them in their stride without complaint".
