A letter addressed to Major T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from Fred C. Smith, Moran, Texas, dated April 21, 1941. Smith advises Carswell that he and several of the men will attend the Albany Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet and wanted to avoid being absent for inspection if it was planned for the same evening. He expresses his appreciation for the courtesy shown to them by Carswell and the other officers and by the Chamber of Commerce.

A letter written to Major T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from D. F. Morris, Guy Taylor Post No. 61, American Legion, Albany, Texas, dated April 5, 1941. Morris acknowledges the receipt of the letter from Carswell regarding House Bill 373 and informs Carswell that he passed his letter on to Mr. V. H. Moore, Chairman of the local committee, advising Carswell that he had to resign from the committee but pledges his support un-officially.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, 5th Division Commander, Abilene, Texas, from Wyatt W. Lipscomb, Albany, Texas, dated October 2, 1942. Lipscomb brags on the success of the Albany membership drive for The American Legion and advises of their plans to celebrate with a big barbeque. The guest list includes The Department Commander, Adjutant, Chaplain, the 5th Division Commander (The Honorable T. N. Carswell), the 17th District Commander, Major Federbush of Camp Barkeley who will bring some officers from the Camp, and Ed Riedel.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Wyatt W. Lipscomb, Albany, Texas, dated November 22, 1942. Lipscomb advises of the enclosed clipping from one of their two local newspapers of an article written by himself relative to the proper consideration of Armistice. He complains that the other newspaper destroyed the intent of the article by leaving out the last paragraph. Lipscomb extends an invitation to Carswell and to his wife to attend an event to be held at their Legion Hall adding that he hopes his gasoline will not be too limited for the trip. Enclosure includes: "November 11, 1942" by Wyatt W. Lipscomb. Article printed by The Shackelford County Leader, Chas. A. Fryar, Publisher, Albany, Texas. The reverse side of clipping includes the articles: "Questionnaires Go To Teen Age Boys"; "Week's Honor roll At Red Cross Room"; "Albany Soldier Here Tells of Jap Raids In Aleutian Islands".

Letter from Omar Burkett to Owen Thomas discussing House Bill 565, regarding the redistricting of state judicial districts and working with Representatives Truett Latimer and David Ratliff to maintain the districts of Judge Thomas and Judge Black as they are. He also states his support for House Bill 269, regarding Shackelford and Callahan county and the 91st district.

In the letter, he gave her news of his health, those he was traveling with, and where he was headed to next. He told her he was anxious to return home and be with his family.

Tenth Battalion, Texas Defense Guard, Moran, Texas, dated October 2, 1941. McCargo accepts the invitation to attend the Abilene Armistice Day program. He requests that Carswell take it up with T & P railroad about a "Special" to enable all to attend the National Defense Patriotic Day Ceremony at Dallas on October 12.
