Lee inquires of Carswell whether or not Bob Wagstaff is a good speaker and explains that he is thinking of asking him to speak to their Lions Club. He notes his regret that it was necessary for Carswell to resign his place in the Defense Guard.

A letter addressed to The Chairman, Mitchell County Local Board No. 1, Colorado City, Texas from L. M. Fellbaum, Major, Q. M. C., Policy Supervisor dated February 18, 1944. Fellbaum advises that Mr. Thomas N. Carswell has been instructed to assist the board members or clerks in the processing of registrants due to the increase in physical examinations and induction calls, and due also to their recent change in clerks explaining that his assistance will greatly aid the local board in their work.
