The enclosed speech was given on June 22, 1975, at the first anniversary of the three Hispanic City Judges appointed by Mayor Hofheinz. The enclosure also includes copies of four photographs with captions of the event.

Gupton comments on Herrera's successful open-heart surgery performed by Dr. Denton Cooley and reminisces over the cases Herrera presented in his court. The letter's envelope is also included.

Letter from Reverend P. F. Flores to Roberto Ornelas explaining that Flores will not be able to attend the "roasting" of John J. Herrera. Flores expresses his gratitude toward Herrera for devoting Herrera's time to help teach Mexican-American children that were boycotting a segregated school in Pearland.

Letter from Dr. Hector P. Garcia congratulating John J. Herrera on being honored. Garcia praises Herrera for his accomplishments in defending Mexican-American civil rights and for his bravery in fighting discrimination. Garcia notes that he will not be able to attend the event in person.

Letter from Manuel Urbina, II, to Thomas H. Kreneck, Director of the Houston Metropolitan Research Center, dated October 31, 1986. The letter accompanied seventeen documents and two folders containing information on the life and work on Reverend Manuel Urbina, of the Magnolia Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. The donation to the Houston Metropolitan Research Center also includes a book written about Urbina by his widow, Irene Salce de Urbina.

Reverend Urbina had sent a donation of $246 to the American Red Cross form the Reverend Manuel Urbina Memorial Foundation, Inc.
