Davis inquires of Carswell, "how goes the battle," and advises that he has plans, but he wants to hear from Carswell before doing anything and describes the program plans for Dallas. He advises Carswell, confidentially, that they have a plan to try to get on the July Primary ballot on a "war time proposition" noting if they can do that they "will be ready for big things".

The letter reports on the increasing use of beverage alcohol, and a proposal on how to counter that use.

Carswell, Chairman, Committee on Americanism, Parramore Post No. 57, American Legion, Abilene, Texas, from Ralph Davis, Executive Secretary to the Governor, State of Florida, dated December 17, 1941. Davis explains that due to the heavy demand upon the time of the Governor since the American declaration of war against the Axis powers there has been no time for the Governor to answer but confirms that he will continue to hold the letter for the Governor's attention.

Whitten, Chairman, Taylor County Democratic Executive Committee, Abilene, Texas, dated August 17, 1956. A reminder that the second primary election will be held on August 25, 1956 advising of location and date to obtain election kits and supplies. Whitten calls a committee meeting for the opening and canvassing of the returns and advises of their poor financial situation and its effects on the paid help for the elections.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Parramore Post, Abilene, Texas, from Sam Russell, House of Representatives, Washington, D. C., dated November 17, 1941. Russell replies to the request by Carswell for a 1941 Congressional Directory advising that it is now in the mail.

A letter written to Mr. Carswell from Mrs. W. L. Ross, dated January 17, 1951. Ross advises Carswell that Hardin has had three heart attacks, that George runs errands for Ruth twice a day, and that George's daughter, Suzanne, is to be married February 2nd.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from Millard A. Jenkens, Sr., Abilene, Texas, dated February 17, 1955. Jenkens expresses his appreciation to Carswell for a present "and above all, the Christian love and friendship in your great big heart that prompted you to do it". He compares the expression "hearts knit together" to the bond between them.

A letter addressed to the Superintendent of Schools, Frederick, Oklahoma from T. N. Carswell, dated June 17, 1965. Carswell explains his concern for Dr. Cyrus N. Ray as in need of institutional care and requests assistance in locating his family.

Carswell advises that he wrote to her a month ago but did not have her given name correct and was concerned that she did not receive his letter. He explains that he is writing in hope that on her advice that Dr. Cyrus N. Ray will accept institutional care. The reverse side includes a blank purchase order of Abilene Machine Company, 1334-42 Pine STreet, Abilene, Texas.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from Horace J. Blackwell, Dallas, dated August 17, 1965. Blackwell expresses his appreciation for Carswell attending the services held for his mother in Hawley. He advises of the difficulty in obtaining factual information on life insurance companies and offers the information that he did find noting that Best's recommended the company.

A letter written to Dr. W. R. White, First Baptist Church, Austin, Texas from W. P. Wright, Chairman, Board of Trustees dated April 17, 1947. Wright requests that White serve as chairman of the Denominational Committee and names the men that will serve with him: T. N. Carswell, vice-chairman, M. A. Jenkens, P. D. O'Brien, Vernon Yearby, Henry A. Littleton, T. A. Patterson, J. Ralph Grant.

A copy of letter written to Mr. J. D. Sandefer, Jr., Breckenridge, Texas from Herbert Hoover, The Waldorf-Astoria Towers, New York 22, New York dated September 17, 1949. Hoover declines the invitation due to commitments that was received from J. D. Sandefer, Jr. to attend and be placed on the program for the dedication of the Sandefer building at Hardin-Simmons University. A note handwritten by Jake Sandefer expresses appreciation to T. N. Carswell for the idea to invite Hoover.

The letter contains a notification by Collier of a meeting which has been called by President W. W. Haynes to approve or reject bids on the Children's Building.

Carswell advises of and explains regarding testimony given by a registrant and a statement by a person "in a position to know" regarding some practices by individuals covered in the testimony. Carswell advises that "it is also revealed that the appeal agent is under the influence of liquor much of the time", that he made inquiry and is convinced that the official connection of the appeal agent tends to discredit the board and is a source of embarrassment to the board.

Stephens, Administrator, Interstate Parole Compact, Montgomery, Alabama, from Jack Ross, Administrator, Interstate Parole Compact, Austin, Texas (by Ruby Blackburn, Administrative Assistant), Board of Pardons and Paroles, Texas, dated October 17, 1957. Blackburn acknowledges the receipt of correspondence relative to the termination of the supervision of Subject 59,311. Typewritten at the bottom of the page is correspondence from Blackburn to Mr. Carswell advising him to return the supervisory material to their office, that the Subject has been transferred to Florida and she expresses their appreciation for the cooperation and assistance by him in this matter.

Mays acknowledges the receipt of a letter from Carswell containing enclosures concerning Subject, expresses his appreciation for the assistance from Carswell and notes his agreement with Carswell that his file is now closed.
