From now on, he says, the soldiers will get one bottle a week. The army recently installed a drinking fountain in the town for the soldiers' use. The Italians, who Willis says have never seen one before, are intrigued by it, although they don't know how to use it.

He went sightseeing with a friend, and declares the country in Italy to be the best looking country he has seen. He says everything is in bloom, and the grape vines and cherry trees are heavy with fruit.

He says that many people think the war will be over in the fall, and that it's getting hotter in Italy, although it's cool during the evening. He works from 4:30 AM to 2:30 PM. He also mentions that the potato crop was plentiful, and he and his friend Harmon Gilbreath have been frying lots of potatoes.

Letter from Stanley Marcus to Harris Leon Kempner regrading the opening of their Italian Fortnights on October 15th. He mentions that there's a special flight of Alitalia from Rome and Milan to Dallas on 14th, so if Kempner wants to use this opportunity to get people with he does business with in Italy to Dallas, he'd send them invitations to various affairs.

Letter from Jeane B. Kempner to Mr. Emile Frankl asking to meet when she arrives in Le Havre, France for her trip across Europe as she will be traveling alone and desires help in taking care of her dog, Nickle.

Cablegram addressed to Kempner at the Palace Hotel Milano asking him to urge Mattioli to send the September bids and expressing disappointment that Heller isn't going to Sweden sooner. A written response in D. W. Kempner's handwriting says that Heller believes he was following what was discussed by phone.
