She mentions that it is still raining and they can't do much work because of it. She is writing, but has nothing to say other than mentioning the weather. George Turner left and got as far as Cannon. George's wife was concerned he hadn't come home all day. The Colonel has sore eyes, but everyone else is doing fine. She has plenty of eggs and beef, but is running out of flour. One of her milk cows gave birth and the calf is doing well. She will be short on milk because of the calf. Phippen received the problems and is working on on them. She wants to play a trick on C.B. Moore about her twin calves. The Colonel was helping Phippen on the problems. Colonel asks a way to get the answers for the problems. Ben Shirley has been sick, thus neglecting his cattle. She tells him what has been happening to Old Man Smith. She talks about getting Jim new clothes. They might not have a school teacher for the spring. She has not heard about her relatives in Tennessee and can't wait to hear from him again.

The school children are putting on a concert. Mr. Shepard wants to get married. She now has a flue. She received news from Em and her son Calvin is in California. She asks for a picture of Linnet.

John's year hasn't started off well. His sister died on New Years. He mentions the winter weather they have had. He hasn't been working much this winter because the mill hasn't been open. He then mentions some people he knows and how they are doing. He would love to go hunting with Moore, but will be unable to.

Matilda is expecting that the Moore's will start to be on their way to see her. She received news from Tobe and Florence. They keep on moving. She talks about the weather and the state of the crops. Dinkie writes about picking blackberries and catching geese with Birdie, Bessie, and Mattie. Bettie got a new dress. She wishes she could see Mary, but she moved too far away. Birdie would write, but is busy playing. She asks that they come quickly, she wants to see them.

His health and the health of his wife and Lyke are well. Lyke and him went to go visit Lou Wallace. He also visited with Wallace's mother, Bet Wallace, Jimmy Wallace and one of Bet's sons. He met both of Dr. Bill Love's sons. He did not learn a lot about his relatives while there and so won't try to remember what he did. He was glad to hear that Moore and the rest of his family was doing so well. He then talks about his religious beliefs. He will try to visit with them when they come visit.

[Letter from James K. Dodd to Mary Ann and Charles B. Moore, October 15, 1889]
This is a letter from the Charles B. Moore Collection. It is written by James K. Dodd, Mary Ann's brother. In this letter, James details the goings-on at his residence in Paul's Valley, forty to fifty miles north of Ardmore. He notes that Florence and Mary are visiting Edmond and will be at home in a few days. He asks Charles to send him the balance of his account at the bank in McKinney. He mentions that the balance should be $305.80. James sends a message to George A. Wilson who sent him $200.00 to Edmund. He asks Charles when the $1,000 dollar note will be due and details that he needs it to be between the date of the letter and Christmas. He closes the letter by stating he has heard from Bettie that the Moore family are making their way home from Tennessee and that he expects they should be home by now. This is a letter from the Charles B. Moore Collection. It is written by Adelitia "Dinkie" McGee to the Moore family and Alice McGee. In this letter, Dinkie details the goings-on in Gallatin, Tennessee and the news includes: weather updates, a discussion concerning Alice's Grandma McGee who has passed, a dialogue about making molasses from cane, news about the crops that survived and the crops that were ruined from frost, updates on family and friends, and the daily happenings since the Moore family and Alice have left. This is a letter from the Charles B. Moore Collection. It is written by J. J. Crawford and addressed to Henry S. Moore. Dinkie had some people over and made dinner for them. She talks about thrashing wheat, and Willie killing Birdie's gosling. She wants to go see Florence and Minnie. Dinkie mentions that they are all well and Florence, Mary and Minnie spent the night there. Tobe it taking Florence to her mothers. Willie is working in town early in the morning. She mentions the weather and the vegetables in her garden. Birdie talks about school, Minnie Dodd's tooth, and Tobe and Florence possibly going back to Indian territory. Mary is staying with them and doesn't want to go to Indian territory. Dinkie mentions that Sallie and Mattie visited,and Charlie and Fannie are going to rent Mr. Campbell's place. She talks about milking, making butter, and selling eggs. She received some apples and canned some, and made some jelly. She tells Linnet all the fun Bird, Mary and Minnie are having. Jack and Lee have had some problems with getting the wheat. They had to hire help. She mentions they have been having bad weather. Jack's father died and so he will have to go back because of the will. She wonders where his mother will go and also Mrs. Lucas. She mentions she now has eye glasses. She would like to have them visit her, and even tried to go visit them for the fall, but it fell through. She talks about the schooling of her children and how she might have to send them to boarding school. She would like the Moores to write back a long letter.

This is a letter from the Charles B. Moore Collection. It is written by Moore to Patty Brown. In the letter, Charles discusses the Annie Laura story and gives Brown a brief, yet detailed family history. Highlighting major life events, he notes how he was born in Gallatin, moved to Texas, and moved away from Texas during the war. He also details his work with mills,how he changed career paths, and when he was married. This letter is dated March 1891.

This is a draft from the personal papers of the Charles B. Moore Collection. It is written by Moore on April 19, 1891. In this letter, Moore writes about an article written in the Dallas Weekly News on April 16 by D. B. Kiefer. The article details a "norther" that struck Texas in April of 1857. He states in this document that he writes to corroborate stories with the journalist, provide his experience through the "norther," and make a correction on the date given in Kiefer's article. The third and fourth page of this document includes genealogical accounts of Moore's descendants. He details the Wallace family and the history of some of the Wallace men who were part of an expedition sent on a charge to the Creek nation.

This is a letter from the Charles B. Moore Collection. It is written by Moore to unknown recipients. In this letter, Moore details the dilemma centered on the Annie Laura story which was printed in the Rockbridge County newspaper. He provides a brief, yet detailed genealogical account of the Moore family history as well as the Anna Laura ballad for the letter's recipients. The letter's edges are damaged and some of the words are missing due to the damage.

Letter from Henry Moore to his brother Charles, Mary and Linnet Moore. Henry uses shorthand in the first five pages the letter. He informs the his brother's family about his activities, his friends, and what he duties at work. He also talks about his farm, the produce it produces, and the sales of produce and farm animals. He says his 'Examiner" subscription continued. He also made a comment on "free silver."
