Jones states that he questioned Long regarding the reasons Grant gave for believing her brother Jack Ruby had a press pass, and Long stated that she described an incident at the State Fair of Texas where Ruby had some kind of "Operations" pass that granted him admission.

He stated that the automobile backing into the basement area distracted him while Lee Harvey Oswald was being brought out, so he did not get a photograph of the shooting. At the time of the interview Johnston had been interviewed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
