The purpose of the present study is to study the problems of Anglo-American and Latin-American girls in relation to their socio-economic status.

In seismic field operations complex problems often arise which cannot be solved mathematically. In recent years investigators in both the commercial and academic fields have begun to approach the problems of elastic wave propagation by the use of seismic scale models. This thesis discusses the results measured from simulated seismic activity on a scale model built by the researcher.

The purpose of this thesis is to make a study of the third and fourth series of the Episodios nacionales. The study will deal with the plot structure, the characterization, and the historicity of the twenty novels which make up the two series.

This thesis has been written with several goals in mind. The first purpose has been to inform the reader about the life of Charles Ives and the influences he experienced that gave him the impetus to experiment and write music of a nature thirty years ahead of its time, while the rest of the world was basking in the waning light of Romanticism. The second purpose has been to describe in a short space general characteristics that may be found throughout the entire musical output of Ives. The third purpose has been to analyze in greater detail the major portion of his contributions to piano literature, the three piano sonatas, so that the student may better understand the complexities which will face him in performance of these compositions. Perhaps the strongest motivation for the present study has been the hope that it might induce more students to be explorers themselves and become familiar with this music of Ives.

The purpose of this study is fourfold: (1) to determine the relationship between sociometric status and specific physique types; (2) to determine the relationship between personal appearance and sociometric status; (3) to determine the relationship between sociometric status and physical defects; (4) to determine the relationship between sociometric status and chronic absenteeism.

This paper describes the preparation of pyridine derivatives of 2,3-dichloro-5(8?)-nitro-1,4-naphthoquinone. A method for the nitration of 2,3-dichloro-1,4-naphthoquinone is also described. Certain 4-n-alkyl, 3,4-dialkyl, and 4-cycloalkyl pyridine derivatives are caused to undergo condensation reactions with the nitrated naphthoquinone, giving rise to a series of compounds of the preceding type (X). All of the compounds prepared will be tested for anti-tubercular activity by Parke-Davis and Company.

The intent in formulating this study was to examine social perception, as related to several sociometric variables. By social perception is meant the ability of an individual to estimate correctly the feelings of his associates toward him, in terms of their desiring or not desiring him as a close friend.

The purpose of this study is to give a brief history of the strong verbs in Old English and to trace their development in Middle English and in Modern English, concentrating on the last period. In Modern English two lines of development are of particular interest and importance: the confusion of children and illiterates in using strong verb forms and the treatment of strong verbs in recent grammars. It is hoped that this study will show the pertinence of these verbs and that from this study recommendations can be made as to the simplest procedure for teaching them.

The study of James Parton Haney is threefold in purpose. The first purpose is to study the life and educational background of Haney in order to gain an understanding of the man and his educational objectives. A second purpose is to gain an insight into Haney's philosophy of education, and the third purpose is to examine the available writings of Haney in an attempt to analyze his philosophy of industrial arts as a phase of general education.

The purpose of this study is twofold. One is that of developing an instrument for determining a child's concept of how he is thought of by his mother and his father; in other words, a method of measuring parental acceptance as it is perceived by the child, himself. The development of this instrument will be discussed in Chapter IV. The second purpose of this study is that of determining whether or not there is any significant relationship between the child's perception of parental acceptance and the social acceptability of the child, as measured by a sociometric instrument.

Anomalies of the teeth include a variety of expression such as: anodontia, hyperdontia, peg teeth. opalescent dentine, mottled enamel, and other imperfections of the teeth. This paper is concerned primarily with anodontia in human subjects, although other abnormalities of interest are mentioned. Insufficient datum is the principal difficulty encountered in determining the mechanism and means of transmission in human genetics. Small families, slow breeding, and inability to subject humans to experimentation account, in part, for this difficulty. The lack of reliable data is the second major difficulty in determining the mode of transmission. Often normal or unaffected members of a family are forgotten due to insignificance placed on them--thus an untrue pedigree is the result. The fact that one must rely on information from one or two members of a family lends itself to error. Therefore, an absolutely accurate determination of Mendelian ratios in human genetics would be impossible. This error, however, can be reduced by the gathering and compilation of large numbers of family pedigrees from which calculations can be made and results determined which will reveal the mode of transmission of various hereditary traits. This study was made to show the economic growth of the rural area served by the Cooke County Electric Co-Operative association, as well as its history. Locally, the Cooke County Electric Co-operative Association owes a large part of its success to the ability of the rural people to help themselves. In this thinly populated section of the country they have built a successful business where established power companies claimed that it would be impossible. Although the number of farmers continues to decrease, the demand for power continues to increase. The members of the Cooke County Co-operative are proud of their co-operative and are always happy to tell of their accomplishments. At the last memberships meeting a large majority of the members were present.
