This thesis is a record of the results of a study made to obtain information about the relation of food, rest, and recreation to the height and the weight of the children in the fifth grade of Winnetka School, Dallas, Texas. The purpose of the work was three-fold: (1) to gain a better understanding of the nutritive value of foods and thereby put this understanding into practice; (2) to recognize the three essentials of good health: namely, diet, rest, knowledge of health rules; (3) and to create a desire to practice them.

It was the purpose of this study, first, to determine how and to what extent a teacher can be instrumental in improving the health status of the Dallas elementary school child, and second, to ascertain the importance of a teacher's evaluation of physical aspects from the standpoint of their effect on the mental, social, and emotional well-being of the school child.

The problem shall be to show (1) what those values are, (2) how they shall be attained, and (3) which comics are best suited to aid in the attainment of those values, as shown by the data to be assembled.

The problem in this study has a three-fold purpose: to learn the likenesses and differences of the small and large business offices of Dallas, Texas, in regard to their employment requirements for the beginning stenographer; to determine to what extent the average Dallas high school graduate shows the characteristics that are requisite for secretarial success; and to evaluate the learnings of secretarial students in Forest Avenue High School, Dallas, Texas, in view of these findings.

The purpose of the study is to analyze the results of a survey of the graduates of Technical High School in Dallas since 1938 to determine the effectiveness of the training given by the school in helping the graduate choose an occupation and giving him skills and attitudes that will help him get a job and make a good worker.
