Early edition of Heidi by Johanna Spyri, translated by H. A. Melcon. Except for a green and white boarder around the edge of the front cover, is a full page illustration of Heidi standing barefoot on a mountain clearing with her arms around two goats. On the ground around her feet are rocks, grass, and flowers. In the background are tall evergreen trees and mountain tops. The spine of the book is cream colored with the title and names of the author, series; Famous Books for Young Americans, and publishing company. Also on the spine is a small illustration of a girl in a long dress holding an umbrella with the word "illustrated" underneath it. On the inside of the cover is the flap of the dust jacket with text about the series. Behind the dust jacket flap is a bookplate for Gustine Courson Weaver. The paper attached to the interior cover and as part of the first page is a pale orange-peach color with a repeating pattern of squares with flowers in the shape of a C inside. Early edition of Heidi by Johanna Spyri. The book is covered by a dust jacket but the actual cover of the book can be seen peeking at the edges and is red. On the front cover of the jacket is a large illustration of Heidi, standing on one barefoot in a grassy mountain clearing. She has both of her arms held aloft on either side of her head. Standing off to the side is a goat with a bell around its neck. In the background is a cabin, some evergreen trees, and tall mountains spanning into the sky. The illustration is bordered by white and green lines. The spine of the book is a chartreuse color and on it is the title, authors and publisher's names. In the center is a black silhouette on Heidi kneeling on the ground with a goat. Along the unfolded edges of the dust jacket are chips where either the print or the paper was chipped away. Heidis Lehr u Wanderjahre

Early German edition of the first part of Heidi, called Heidi: Her Years of Wandering and learning by Johanna Spyri. The entire cover of the book is a faded red-orange color. The front cover of the book has the title and author's and publisher's names in black, gothic font. At the top of the cover is an illustration of a cabin in the mountains bordered by trees. Wrapping around that illustration and twining down the cover is a flowering plant with leaves and vines. On the first blank page are some hand written notes, possibly from previous owners. On the spine is the author's name, the word "stories" in German, and the volume number. In the book are black and white illustrations, one of which is a road in the mountains. On one side of the road are some evergreen trees and on the other side is a wooden fence. Further down the road is a man walking with a cane. In the distance are more tree and mountains.

Well used copy of Heidi by Johanna Spyri, translated by Helen b. Dole, and illustrated by William Sharp. The cover is made up of a blue fabric and sections along the spine on the front, back, and all of the spine have been taped. On the spine is the title and author's name in gold and at the bottom are old library labels. Placed in between the two first blank pages is a piece of paper likely from the dust jacket giving a synopsis of the book. Within the book are black and white illustrations, one of which is on the first page of chapter two: At the Grandfather's. The illustration of Heidi standing outside of her Grandfather's cabin while her grandfather sits on a bench against the cabin wall holding a smoking pipe. Heidi is standing barefoot on the grass with her shoes next to her. Beyond the cabin are mountains dotted with evergreen trees.

The front cover the book has a very worn dust cover were parts of the have been replaced with semitransparent paper. The illustration on the cover is of Heidi standing barefoot in a grassy field with one of her arms petting a goat with a bell on its neck. In her other hand she is holding a bouquet of flowers. Behind them in the background are the tops of mountains coming up from the ground. The dust jacket's spine section has more damage that was repaired in the same manner as the front cover. Behind the repaired sections are the title and author's name. In the center of the spine has stripes and a bouquet of flowers as embellishments. On the title page has the author's name, the titles of the book, as a singular abridged version and the unabridged versions. It also has the revisor's, illustrator's and publisher's names.
