The interview traces Greer's background in Snyder, Texas; public school education in Decatur, TX; two-years of study at Decatur Baptist College, where he starred for and captained the basketball team; continued academic pursuits at North Texas State College in public school administration (BS, 1951; MS, 1954) and his membership in the Geezle Fraternity; association with the Geezles and their shared values that permeated his life; 36-year leadership and teaching career in public education in eight school districts in Texas.

Denton County and the City of Denton are named for pioneer preacher, lawyer, and Indian fighter John B. Denton, but little has been known about him. He was an orphan in frontier Arkansas who became a circuit-riding Methodist preacher and an important member of a movement of early settlers bringing civilization to North Texas. After becoming a ranger on the frontier, he ultimately was killed in the Tarrant Expedition, a Texas Ranger raid on a series of villages inhabited by various Caddoan and other tribes near Village Creek on May 24, 1841. Denton’s true story has been lost or obscured by the persistent mythologizing by publicists for Texas, especially by pulp western writer Alfred W. Arrington. Cochran separates the truth from the myth in this meticulous biography, which also contains a detailed discussion of the controversy surrounding the burial of John B. Denton and offers some alternative scenarios for what happened to his body after his death on the frontier.

Blocker discusses postpartum activism, her experience with her daughter Melanie, the difference between postpartum psychosis and postpartum depression, the Melanie Blocker Stokes Act, and the lack of detailed information available about postpartum mental illnesses.

Interview with Joy Burkhard, a mother and founder/executive director of the nonprofit organization 2020 Mom, soon to be renamed the Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health, from Valencia, California. Burkhard discusses work in the health delivery system, her own experience with motherhood, Postpartum Support International, founding her organization, maternal mental health disorders, Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, and the importance of access to child care and support.

Interview with Warren Whitson Jr., a WWII veteran, businessman and former mayor of Denton, Texas, from Denton. Whitson discusses his family background, his first jobs and education, his family's canning business, joining the Army Air Force and becoming a bomber pilot, flying B-17s in the European theater, his marriage, building a house, his businesses, becoming involved in the city, and the development of Denton over time.

Interview with Francisco Gonzalez, a journalist from San Miguel, El Salvador. Gonzalez discusses his education, growing up during the civil war, having his appendix removed, his brother's involvement in the war, attending medical school, transition to law school and working as a journalist, moving to the US and attending UNT, work with the Dallas Magazine, his marriage, and revisiting El Salvador.
