A notebook containing loose-leaf pages with handwritten text that includes a discussions of American politics and the value of gold and silver as a standard for currency, duties on imported goods, and religion. It also includes at least partial letters to friends from Charles Moore, copies of letters from friends, and some practice in shorthand. There is a cover with an illustration of a fisherman steering a boat on the front, and it says "Pilot."

Grand Ball Invitation
A 'Grand Ball' printed invitation (presumedly to John Eugene Sprague) of Aline, inviting him and "ladies" to the Russell Orchestra First Annual Ball, Wed. evening, Dec. 28, 1892 at the Opera House, Russell, Kansas. Mr. Sprague played baseball for Russell, Kansas during the summers after the opening of the Cherokee Strip.

A ledger assembled between 1892-1895 containing a list of Confederate Veterans in the Abilene-Taylor County area of West Texas. The first pages list name, rank, current age at time of membership, company regiment, service date, brigade, army, whether wounded and whether a prisoner or not, place of birth, and name of the state where the individual enlisted. Notes of service include such information as "Was captured on British Steamer" or "Paroled at Vicksburg." The minutes in this ledger are dated May 2, 1895.

Subscription receipt to A. S. Fields for 50 cents to pay for one month of the newspaper "The Daily Messenger" beginning June 1, 1892, signed by T. A. Ardis. An accompanying note by the dealer from whom the receipt was purchased states that A. S. Fields was a longtime Harrison County Clerk. Printed at the top left of the form: W. A. Adair, Proprietor. The receipt is a printed form with blanks for names and dates, which have been completed in pencil.
