Transcript of an interview with Charles (Charly) Seale, who served with the Department of Public Safety, Highway Patrol Service during the flood of July 17, 1987 near Comfort, Texas. The flood took the lives of ten children. Charles was in the the first responding helicopter involved in the rescue operation and recounts the events and search that followed. Photos of Charles follow the transcript.

Transcription of Thei chik tboor tun ki suu txhat nah (Blessings from the Thei-chik-tboor tree) as told by Shekarnong Sankhil. A young man, abandoned by his elder brother at the behest of his wife, befriends a young woman. He gifts his prospective parents-in-law with precious items he took from the tiger he killed. The young woman proves herself fit to be his wife by being the only person not to slip on a mat spread out at harvest time.

Transcript of an interview with Mary Elaine Adamek Jones, who worked as a labor and delivery nurse, got her doctorate of philosophy in cultural anthropology from Southern Methodist University, and directed the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Texas at Arlington before retiring after 25 years. She also taught nursing for 13 years at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio. The interview details her father's career as an accomplished saddle maker, her education, and career, and family memories. Mary Elaine and her husband, Thomas, have two children.
