Vox Alia

Recording of Annette Vande Gorne's Vox Alia. This work is separated into 4 main movements: Giocoso, Amoroso, Inncentemente, and Furioso. The composer describes each of these as small vocal studies that have been transformed through electroacoustics. While this work is split into separate tracks, they are all meant to be played together in an octophonic setting. This work was commissioned by the GRM (a musical research group in Paris).

Raw Data

Recording of Maggi Payne's Raw Data. This work was composed as a response to Koji Marutani's request for pieces for his End ID CD. The theme was to address the technological advances that occurred in the 20th century and "Raw Data" was made using sounds of shortwave broadcasts. The piece moves from early 20th Century communications (Morse code transmissions) to present (tapes, cassettes, shortwave, etc.).

Hydraulis

Recording of Colby Leider's Hydraulis. This work attempts to methodically create and subsequently deconstruct a thick, multilayered texture composed entirely of sounds relating in some way to the ancient Greek Hydraulis, or water-organ. At the center of the work is an extended processed quotation of the motet "In Hydraulis" by Antoine Busnois. The piece was composed using Super Collider sound synthesis language on an Apple Macintosh computer.

La Mer Bleue

Canto di madre

Recording of Michelangelo Lupone's Canto di madre. This work was written for amplified string quartet and magnetic support. This piece is a result of the composer's research of stringed instruments. By using a virtual model of a stringed instrument, he was able to broaden the sound capabilities of the instruments and achieve his expressive objectives.
