The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an interview with James Ashbaugh. Ashbaugh joined the Navy in April of 1944. He completed Electrician School. He served as Fireman 1st Class aboard a landing craft tank, the LCT-60. He traveled to Bougainville and Manus. Ashbaugh continued his service after the war ended, and participated in the nuclear testing at Bikini Atoll, for which he provides vivid details. He served for a total of nine years in the Navy.

The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an interview with Clyde Covey. Covey joined the Navy in October of 1945. He served as a Fireman aboard the patrol craft escort, the PCE-870, in Hawaii, completing patrols around Pearl Harbor, and in between the equator and the Aleutians. They had about nine different posts, where they would send up weather balloons with transmitters, radioing weather information back to Pearl Harbor. Covey later completed motor machinist school, and was assigned to PCE-852 at the Underwater Sound Laboratories in New London, Connecticut, developing underwater communication. He received his discharge in December of 1948.

The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an interview with Melvin Pratt. Pratt joined the Navy in April of 1944. He served as Seaman 3rd Class with the gunnery gang aboard the minesweeper USS Strength (AM-309). In December, they arrived in Pearl Harbor, and began training in preparation for the Iwo Jima invasion. On 16 February 1945, they began sweeping off Iwo Jima to clear the way for the invasion fleet. In late March, they assisted in clearing the approaches to the beaches off Okinawa for the impending assault. After the war ended, they participated with occupation forces in Japan, sweeping mines around Sasebo. He received his discharge in May of 1946.

The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an interview with Ralph Schultz. Schultz joined the Marine Corps in in late 1942. He completed radio/telephone school. He joined the 3rd Joint Assault Signal Company (JASCO), and was shipped to Guadalcanal and assigned to Headquarters 3rd Marine Division. In July of 1944, they participated in the Battle of Guam. As part of JASCO, Schultz helped coordinate and control naval gunfire and close air support of landings on the island. After receiving injury to his leg, he was shipped back to the US. He received his discharge in July of 1945.

The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an interview with Alfred Gluck. Gluck joined the Merchant Marines in mid-1941. He served as a Seaman aboard a liberty ship, the SS George L. Baker (1614). In May of 1943, they traveled to Honolulu, Hawaii, transporting general supplies and merchandise for people on the island. He returned to San Francisco, and was assigned to the SS James Lick in July as Able Seaman, traveling to New Hebrides and New Caledonia, transporting military cargo. In 1944 through the end of the war, Gluck also served aboard the SS Mormacgull, traveling to New Guinea and Guadalcanal and the SS Louis Sullivan (2781). He continued his service after the war, and received his discharge in March of 1946.

Recording of a conversation between Aurangzeb (a 34-year old male teacher) and Gohar-Ur Rehman (a 38 year old male shop owner) in which Aurangzeb talks to Gohar about their memories in high school. Aurangzeb recalls a student who once brought apricot fruits to the class and threw them on the floor. When the teacher entered the class, he slipped on one of the apricots and consequently punished the student. The speakers also recall several other stories/events in this session.

He recalls an incident when a student was punished by a teacher on the road. The speakers also recall several other events in this session.

This is a conversation between Abdul Haq (a 29-year old male teacher) and Abdul Qayum (a 60-year old male) about life in village Danna in the olden days.

Recording of a conversation about some childhood activities in Danna. The speakers recount their memories about playing, going to school, and other activities. Muhammad Rafiq is a male teacher who is 29 years old at the time of recording. Abdul Haq is a male factory worker who is 28 years old at the time of recording.

In this monologue Sultan Khan (a 54-year old male driver) recollects his childhood memories when he was studying in class 8th. He narrates how he once fled from home to Sargodha and then to Lahore with a friend, and about the subsequent events. The other speakers in this recording are Muhammad Rafiq (a 28-year old male) and Muhammad Mushtaq (a 25-year old male).

This is a traditional story about a king who teaches his sons that unity is strength. He explains that one person by himself, just like one stick, can be broken easily, but many people together, like many sticks, cannot be so easily broken. Aurangzeb (born 1985) told the story while Gohar Rehman, born 1981, listened.

This is a monologue about a visit to Chitral district by Muhammad Suleman (a 36-year old male teacher). The speaker is telling that it was a surprise for him to travel by air for the first time and it was his first visit to Chitral. He was very excited about this trip.

In this conversation with Atta-Ur Rehman, Muhammad Suleman recounts the personal experiences of his first ever journey to the Chitral district of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province where he attended a workshop on orthography and conservation of regional languages of Pakistan organized by the Project Director, Dr. Sadaf Munshi, in collaboration with the Forum for Language Initiatives, Islamabad (Pakistan).

This is a retelling of a story about an evil man (a king/prince) who used to get married and then kill his wives. Eventually, he married a very wise girl, and she used her wisdom to make him a gentle man. In this recording, the narrator Abdul Qayum (a 59-year old male factory worker) is addressing Alam Zeb (a 32-year old male teacher).

This is a retelling of a love story of Yousaf Khan and Sher Bano by Ghulam Sarvar (a 70-year old male). Abdul Qayoum (a 60-year old male) is the listener in this recording. Native speakers Naik Muhammad and Aurangzeb are also present.
