A recording of a candidate screening of Bill Nelson, Dallas Jackson, Roy Williams, Ronnie Le Rouge, Tom Williams, and Bill McCalpin who are being interviewed during their run for Dallas City Council positions in 1987. Each candidate has three minutes to make an opening statement, and twelve minutes to answer follow up questions from the audience on clarification on where the candidates stand on certain topics and their answers to six survey questions answered beforehand.

A recording of several screening interviews of candidates running for public office, including David Childs (Tax Assessor and Collector of Dallas County), Jo DeWitty (Constable of Precinct 8), Juan Jasso (State Representative of District 103), Edgar L. McMillan, Jr. (Constable of Precinct 8), Ceil Wiseman (Tax Assessor and Collector of Dallas County), and Burl Jernigan (Constable of Precinct 7). Topics discussed by the candidates include policy changes, budgeting plans, LGBT+ rights, discrimination against those with HIV and AIDS, poverty, minority issues, educating students about laws, endorsement, and qualifications.

Mr. Crout explains that the candidates will have 15 minutes screening, three minutes for general statements and twelve minutes for general questioning; candidates include Roy Williams, Ronnie Le Rouge, Marvin Steakley, Irene Young, Lori Palmer, Bill McCalpin, Dallas Jackson, and Verna Thomas.

The Pear Story is a video stimulus commonly utilized in language documentation where speakers are shown the silent six minute video and then asked to describe it. In the video, a young boy steals a basket of pears from a farmer, then shares the stolen pears with three boys. This is a recording of Gopendro’s retelling of the Pear Story.

This is a natural conversation between two girls at the Manipur University girl’s hostel. They are talking about what to bring back to the dorm after going home for vacation.

This audio recording documents Blaine Dunlap driving and reacting to a radio program.

This audio recording documents the narrator's recollections of a Christmas Eve dinner spent with his neighbor, Lucy Mai Robinson, at the Fairmont Apartments in Nashville, Tennessee. During the dinner, Ms. Robinson recalls events in her life, including a brutal attack. The recording includes the narrator reacting to Christmas carols, radio advertisements, and Ms. Robinson stories.
