Day bonnet

Fine ivory cotton indoor muslin day bonnet or cap. Handmade. finely stitched close fitting cap with shirred. full. corded crown. Cord edged. inverted U-shaped back insert with faggoted eyelet lace insertion. The crown is framed with cord edged. faggoted. eyelet lace insertions. Close fitting brim and neckband with gathered muslin ruffles. The brim ruffle framing the face is edged with delicate. ivory. cotton lace. The neckband is adjustable with a fine cord running through a narrow casing. The cord ties inside centerback. Chin tie ribbons of ivory muslin. There is an inscription. in fine script. written in brown ink on the outside of the right neckband: "M.A. O'Hare".

Uchikake

Wedding uchikake (padded hem kimono) of ecru rinzu (silk patterned like damask) background with embroidered ume and branch (plum blossoms) designs in metallic gold and silk green, orange, and yellow threads in the foreground. Partially lined in orange silk of two different colors. Hand-sewn. Padding is found through out garment - thickest remaining layers at hem, wrist-opening of sleeve and front collar panel. Lining is also rinzu (damask styled) silk - but unadorned, of similar pale color. No mons (or family crests) on this garment.

Heeled shoe

Woman’s shoe of white leather with removable plackets. A) Shoe with pointed toe, tongue with scalloped edge, machine stitching down center front. Tabs across upper vamp with buttons at sides (one button missing). Cuban heel, sole shaped for right foot, made of leather attached with nails on heel. Label: "Kendall" (rest illegible) B) Placket of rectangle of white leather with bronze colored beads and amber colored stones. Oblong band of leather underneath, with button holes with machine stitching on either end. C) Placket of rectangle of white leather (?) with white beads and clear stones. Oblong band of self underneath, with button holes with machine stitching on either end.
