Tommy and Dobbin

Set of 11 wooden blocks, hand-painted, which make up the bodies of Tommy the soldier and his horse Dobbin. Contained in wooden box with sliding lid, lid with colored illustration of the blocks and title; underside of lid with colored illustration showing 5 different ways the blocks can be arranged to make Tommy & Dobbin in different poses. Affixed to inside bottom of case is a second colored illustration showing 6 more poses.

[Two room wooden dollhouse with furniture]

Image of a two room dollhouse made of wood. The room on the left has white walls and blue furniture to match that of a kitchen or dining room. All of the furniture in the room is painted blue with accents in other colors. In the room is a China cabinet, chest, dining table with two chairs and a bench, and a fireplace. On two of the walls are windows with blue striped curtains. The room on the right has light green walls and red furniture with white and yellow details. The furniture in the room includes a wardrobe, a vanity with a mirror, a chair, a fourposter bed, and a cradle. On the far right wall is another window with the same curtains as the ones in the other room. Along the edges of the open walls are painted flowers and simple designs.

[Two room wooden dollhouse with furniture, the red room]

Image of the red and green room from a two room wooden dollhouse from 1947. The walls of the room are painted a light green and the floors are left bare and untreated. In the room are miniature sets of furniture including a wardrobe, vanity, chair, cradle with pillow, and a four poster bed with a mattress. All of the furniture is painted red with white and yellow decorations painted overtop. On the edges of the rooms, where the fourth wall is missing, a pieces of wood decorated with yellow, red, and light blue painted motifs of dots, leaves, and flowers.

[Two room wooden dollhouse with furniture, the blue room]

Image of a kitchen or dining room in a two room dollhouse. The walls of the room are painted a cream color and the furniture is painted a bright blue color. The furniture in the room includes a chest, a dining table, two chairs, an L shaped bench, a straight bench, a green fireplace, and a a set of cabinets with open shelves. On the walls lining the L bench are two windows with blue and white striped curtains. In the adjacent corner is a chimney painted green with a bench in front of it. Next to the chimney is a cabinet with shelves and doll plates and across from it is the chest. All of the furniture has red, white, and yellow details painted on. Other details in the room are miniature felt hats, wooden food, and small pillows and linens.

[Miniature Heidi book]

[Frame with pressed edelweiss]

Image of a frame with pressed edelweiss. The frame is an oval shape painted royal blue with gold gilded flourishes and outer rim. On the inner rim of the frame are raised gilded dots. Inside the frame are three pressed edelweiss flowers which have stems that have been discolored with time. At the top is a label for ownership. Mrs. N. H. Dole is likely Helen B. Dole who was one of the translators of the novel "Heidi" by Johanna Spyri from German to English. On the paper backing is illegible, faded text.

[Carved wooden clock]

Image of a wooden clock, stained a dark brown and carved to look like a bird house with leaves on each side and a bird at the top. The face of the clock is black with white tick marks and white circles for the numbers. The place where number six would be is instead replaced with a hole to the inside. At the bottom of the clock face is "Germany", presumably where it was made.
