Gloves

Glove of pale blue-gray cotton with green undertone. Hands have seams on outside; running stitch of same color; wrists widen and dip in V shape on thumb side; pinkie finger side of wrist features a large scalloped edge. Label sewn in right glove: "Gloves / Designed by / Lilly Dache", with "7" in a circle indicating size.

Hat

Hat of purple felt. The low, circular crown is mostly flattened, with a slightly undulating surface. Around the crown is a wide band of turquoise crushed silk jersey held in place by crossing bands of fuchsia pink and dark blue purple yarn. The wide, flat oval brim is set just slightly off-center to the crown, giving a wider brim in front than back. The hat is unlined, with an inner hatband of purple blue grosgrain ribbon around the inside base of the crown. Designer's label sewn to inner hatband: "Henry's / Originals / Dallas". This hat was designed to be worn with a skirt suit of Mexican homespun cotton designed by Adrian, accession number 1967.002.003.

[United States Navy Ribbon With Honorable Service Lapel, "Ruptured Duck", Pin]

A piece of ribbon with the words "U.S. Navy" flanked by a flag and anchor on each side. Also on the ribbon is an Honorable Discharge pin, known as a "The Ruptured Duck." It is gold-colored metal, with an eagle facing right with wings spread perched within a ring which displays thirteen vertical stripes. The right wing of the eagle is behind the ring and the left wing is behind the ring. The "Ruptured Duck" was given to all Honorably Discharged military personnel, allowing them to wear their uniforms after leaving their service due to their inability to afford civilian clothes. At the same time, the pin let Military Police know that the wearer was not AWOL (Away Without Leave).

Skirt suit

Two-piece daytime suit of Mexican homespun cotton. A) Jacket. Body of jacket is purple, long sleeves and collarless yoke of green, with a narrow band of rose inserted below yoke in front. Jacket has padded shoulders and is slightly fitted, and closes with hooks and eyes in front. Small string tie at waist. Fully lined in purple silk. Label: "Adrian / Original" B) Skirt. Skirt is purple, below knee-length, of slim design flaring slightly. Was altered to lengthen, and then restored to original length. Side zipper closure, and waistband has snap and two hook-and-eye closures. No Labels. 1967.002.003, a hat by Henry's, Dallas, was made to go with this suit. It was most likely created with consideration for L-85 manufacturing restrictions during World War II.

Single breasted with notched collar in red twill wool on exterior of collar extending down interior of front opening. Three self covered buttons and bound buttonholes. Mock flap pockets at sides trimmed with matching self covered buttons and red undersides. Long, set in sleeves with split opening at cuff closed with single, self covered button and bound buttonhole and lined on underside in red. Lined in red silk crepe. Designer's label on inside right: "Traina-Norell / New York" B) Skirt in green twill wool. A line; below knee length. White grosgrain ribbon waistband. Left side zipper. Unlined. C) Blouse in green and red striped jersey. Long sleeves. Narrow, rounded collar banded in matching fabric. Left side opening at neckline with 5 self covered buttons and bound buttonholes on 1-inch band of self. Fitted. Partially lined at back neckline in off-yellow organdy.
