Engraved certificate the size of a bank note with images and text on the front that says: "The City of Waco, State of Texas, Will pay to bearer One Dollar." There are black-and-white images on the front including a man carrying a spear on horseback (lower-left corner), a brick suspension bridge over a river with a city behind (center), and a train engine pulling a coal car (lower-right). The back of the certificate has a decorative design in blue ink surrounding the text "Receivable for all Advalorem Tax. Due the City of Waco."
