SUCCESS of UNT Pre-service Teachers and Latino Families
Presentation highlighting Project SUCCESS in Language and Literacy Instruction which is a Title III National Professional Development Program at the University of North Texas funded by the U. S. Department of Education. The project is directed by the Bilingual Teacher Education Program of the University of North Texas. UNT works in partnership with Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, Region 10 ESC, the Latino Family Literacy Project, and the Intercultural Development Research Association for this project. The goals of the project are to prepare bilingual and ESL pre-service teachers, to provide professional development for in service teachers to improve their instruction for English Learners (ELs) and to engage teachers with families and communities. Filling the Gap: A Focus on Accessibility and Curriculum in Equipment Lending
Presentation discussing the steps taken to create a new circulating collection of equipment items, from needs assessment and item selection to circulation and promotion. Best practices for cataloging, circulation, and item storage will be discussed. Presenters share a LibGuide created to enhance the discoverability of the collection and discuss decisions made about content and format. The presenters also highlight project successes, as well as some of the challenges faced and lessons learned. It was presented at the 2022 Access Services Conference held in Atlanta, Georgia.

Instructional Videos as Tools for Student Learning: Purpose and Practice
Presentation on the creation and use of instructional videos in the UNT Libraries. This poster presentation describes their video production process, how these videos have supported student learning, and an example of an instructional video we created. Instructional videos are one major online resource that the University of North Texas Libraries provides to students. Librarians create a variety of online videos on topics that supplement course materials and instruction sessions. It was presented at the 2021 Texas Library Association (TLA) Library Instruction Round Table Annual Summit which was held virtually on October 15, 2021.

Collection Assessment Through DEI Lenses: Venturing into (nearly) uncharted waters
Presentation for a panel discussing UNT Libraries' journey to address systemic and systematic vestiges of oppression of socially and politically minoritized populations. For this purpose, the Collection Assessment Department is planning on evaluating the UNT Libraries’ collections, identifying sources of diverse materials, and connecting with our communities. They will conduct focus groups and pilot a method on one aspect of their collections. Flipped and Free: an inverted, active-learning general chemistry course using exclusively OER

Breaking Down the Book: Literature Review and Practice of Book Digitization Methods
Presentation exploring book digitization practices and standards and share how they are implemented by the UNT Digital Projects Lab. With a large number of books flowing into their department, the authors decided to conduct research on the methods of scanning using the equipment and software available to them. This presentation reports on their findings and what factors went into deciding what type of books get scanned where and how. Results include changes to local digitizing standards and clarified workflows based on the types of books to be scanned. It was presented at the 2023 Texas Conference on Digital Libraries (TCDL) held May 16-18, 2023 in Austin, Texas.
