Fireside Corrosion in Oxyfuel Combustion Environments,”

Oxy-fired or low-nitrogen combustion is a technology that will facilitate CO2 capture while also reducing NOx formation and which offers the opportunity for near-zero emissions coal combustion via either the retrofit of existing power plants, or the design of new power plants. Because of the opportunity to improve the environmental performance of the existing coal fired fleet (currently approximately 800 GW of capacity in the US alone) and the potential for converting these plants from air-blown to oxy-fired burners, NETL’s Office of Research & Development is focusing its attention on the impact of retrofitting existing plants on the service life of the materials of construction

Using Calibrated Peer Review to Facilitate Writing Assignments in Large Classes

This poster discusses a project using Calibrated Peer Review (CPR). CPR is a web-based instructional tool. CPR assignments require students to write an essay, evaluated three 'canned' calibration essays on the same topic, evaluate three of their peers' essays, and finally evaluate their own essay. The authors' goal was to determine whether the CPR process improves student learning of the essay content and whether the CPR process improves student writing.

Toward an understanding of Data Literacy Needs in Community Colleges: A Conceptual Framework

The authors propose a framework for studying data literacy by conceptualizing data literacy and explicating the core content and competencies associated with it. It was presented at the 2023 Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) conference held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
