Poster presented at the 2005 IS&T Archiving Conference. This poster describes issues related to portal building and explores compliance and interoperability issues. It also assesses the current status and the emerging trends in innovative uses of portal technologies and provides an overall scenario.

The goal of this specific research task is to develop proxy tracers that mimic contaminant movement to better understand and predict contaminant fate and transport in karst aquifers. Hydrogel tracer beads are transported as a separate phase than water and can used as a proxy tracer to mimic the transport of non-aqueous phase liquids (NAPL). They can be constructed with different densities, sizes & chemical attributes. This poster describes the creation and optimization of the beads and the field testing of buoyant beads, including sampling, tracer analysis, and quantitative analysis. The buoyant beads are transported ahead of the dissolved solutes, suggesting that light NAPL (LNAPL) transport in karst may occur faster than predicted from traditional tracing techniques. The hydrogel beads were successful in illustrating this enhanced transport.

Poster discussing practical methods for ensuring the quality of descriptive metadata associated with linguistic datasets in language archive deposits. Digital language archives are valuable tools for facilitating language revitalization, providing data on lesser-known languages, and supporting reproducibility of research and development of linguistic theory, though their potential remains unrealized as the data available in language archives are rarely accessed by linguists or language communities. Reasons for this under-utilization are the issues with data standardization and metadata quality. Including basic grammatical and typological information would allow wider audiences to reach the material.

Poster exploring the representation of race/ethnicity, disability, and gender identification of doctoral psychology students in the U.S. compared to national population figures. It was presented at the 2020 Midwinter Meeting of the Council of University Directors of Clinical Psychology held on January 17-18, 2020 in Austin, Texas.

Poster evaluates the representation of racial and ethnic minority students in clinical psychology doctoral programs as well as the rate at which they were matched for internship compared to non-Hispanic White students. It was presented at the Council of University Directors of Clinical Psychology Virtual Midwinter Meeting held in January 2021. It was also presented at the UNT Psychology Research Day event held in November 2020.

Poster examining if gender differences exist for two common anxiety symptom categories: mood (e.g. nervousness) and somatic (e.g. sweating). A multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) was conducted to examine gender differences in anxiety symptomology and yielded no significant differences in anxiety severity based on gender. A pattern was present of more somatic symptoms than mood symptoms for both males and females, and males reported lower rates of anxiety symptomology combined when compared to women.

This poster discusses scaffolding for digital curation eductaion. The authors will teach students how to perform commands such as changing directories, moving and copying files, compressing folders, and altering permissions in the Unix environment. This will give students some basic preparation for digital curation work and for the (4) intermediate and advanced courses in digital curation and data management offered by the iCamp Project at the University of North Texas.

MERIC originated from an action plan of the Library of Congress and addresses the need to prepare future information professionals to organize and provide access to digital resources.

Due to increasing atmospheric CO2 concentrations causing the global energy and environmental crises, geological sequestration of carbon dioxide is now being actively considered as an attractive option to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. One of the important strategies is to use deep unminable coal seams, for those generally contain significant quantities of coal bed methane that can be recovered by CO2 injection through enhanced coal bed natural gas production, as a method to safely store CO2. It has been well known that the adsorbing CO2 molecules introduce structural deformation, such as distortion, shrinkage, or swelling, of the adsorbent of coal organic matrix. The accurate investigations of CO2 sorption capacity as well as of adsorption behavior need to be performed under the conditions that coals deform. The U.S. Department of Energy-National Energy Technology Laboratory and Regional University Alliance are conducting carbon dioxide sorption isotherm experiments by using manometric analysis method for estimation of CO2 sorption capacity of various coal samples and are constructing a gravimetric apparatus which has a visual window cell. The gravimetric apparatus improves the accuracy of carbon dioxide sorption capacity and provides feasibility for the observation of structural deformation of coal sample while carbon dioxide molecules interact with coal …

Poster discussing the role of ethnicity in the relationship between posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and suicidality. Research indicates an increased risk of suicide and suicidal behavior among individuals with PTSD. Latinx groups, in particular, have lower rates of suicide injury death in comparison to non-Latinx groups. These findings do not explain increased suicidality in non-Latinx clients, but is congruent with the Latinx health paradox, the contradictory finding of better health outcomes for Latinx despite known additional disadvantages.

This poster discusses preparing, creating, and managing a large dataset of MARC 21 records. The MARC Content Designation Utilization (MCDU) Project is examining catalogers' utilization of available MARC 21 content designation (e.g., fields/subfields). A critical component of this project is the development of methods, procedures, and software tools for reliable and valid analyses of the complete WorldCat database of more than 56 million MARC 21 records.
