Postcard of a drawing of a two story building with a covered porch, described as "The John J. French Trading Post Museum." The back of the postcard adds, "The home was built in 1845 by John J. French (1799-1889), who came from New York and Connecticut to Texas in the 1830's. The property became known as "French Town" and served as home, store, farm, and tannery. Early settlers traded their labor and goods for tanned skins and shoes produced in this home manufactory. The Beaumont Heritage Society restored the home to the mid-nineteenth century period in 1969."
