Color halftone postcard of the Gables Cafe, Marshall, Texas, taken at night sometime after a 1974 rebuilding. The illuminated signs include a large rectangular sign supported by two posts in front of the entrance that says "The Gables Restaurant" and a rooftop sign that says "The Gables Cafe." Another sign with smaller letters runs along the ridge of the roof and says "Home of the Little Loaf of Bread." Automobiles and a pickup truck are parked in the parking log in front. [First Baptist Church, 405 West Austin, Marshall, Texas]

Color halftone postcard of the First Baptist Church in Marshall, Texas, 405 W. Austin St. The main sanctuary building is a gable front red brick building with bell tower and steeple on top of the front gable and a pedimented classical entrance porch projecting from the facade. A smaller similar chapel building is to its left, with an education or office wing behind it. All the buildings are faced with red brick. The buildings are on a corner lot, and a stop sign, directional signs, and street signs are on the corner. Low bushes are planted around the base of the buildings. Printed on the back of the card between the message and address sections: "135651 , Charles G. Hieronymus Photography, 65 Dolores Dr., Edison, N. J. 08817." A logo of a capital letter K within a triangle is in the lower left of the back of the card. There is no postmark or message on the back of the card. Elk Building, Marshall, Texas

Color tinted halftone postcard of the Elk Building, Marshall, Texas, 212 N. Washington, Ave. A man stands in the doorway of the commercial space on the first floor. To the left of the shopfront is the narrow entrance door to the stairs leading to the Elks lodge rooms. The striped awnings on the first floor and on the building to the right are retracted. There is a recessed bay window on the second level above the shopfront, and on the third level a semicircular recess, or exedra. Printed on the top of the image is the title "1131 Elk Building, Marshall, Texas" and "Published by Mathewson Drug Co." On the back the postmark date is 1908. Elks Building, Marshall, Texas

Color tinted halftone postcard of the Elks Building, Marshall, Texas, 212 N. Washington, Ave. The buildings on either side of this building have been artifically removed from the image and the building is surrounded by a uniform blue color, with pale orange adjacent to the first floor level. A man stands in the doorway of the commercial space on the first floor and a selection of rocking chairs and straight chairs have been placed on the front edge of the sidewalk. To the left of the shopfront is the narrow entrance door to the stairs leading to the Elks lodge rooms. A decorative grating with the word "Elks" in the center is above the door. The striped awning on the first floor is retracted. There is a recessed bay window on the second level above the shopfront, and on the third level a semicircular recess, or exedra. [First Methodist Church, Marshall, Texas]

Color halftone postcard of the First United Methodist Church, located at 300 East Houston St., in Marshall, Texas, photographed in the 1950s. The main building was constructed in 1861. It is a front gable brick masonry structure in a Greek revival stye with a bell tower and steeple on top of the front gable. The entrance porch has four tapered square brick columns surmounted by a pediment. The photograph was taken after 1949 when there were renovations and an addition to the east of the building. A redesigned bell tower with octagonal cupola replaced an earlier tower. Stucco was applied to the original brick masonry in 1927. An automobile is parked in front of the church, and a traffic light is visible suspended from a wire to the right of the building. There is no postmark or message on the back. Henderson's Garage, Marshall, Texas

Black and white halftone postcard showing Henderson's Garage in Marshall, Texas, located on the south side of the square, west of the city hall. The service bays were inserted into an older one-story brick masonry building. The two open bays have a sign above them saying "Auto Repair Shop" and a smaller sign between them saying "Gasoline 10 cents." The third bay is closed with a bench in front of it, and the fourth bay has the sign "Accessories" above it. Above all four bays a projecting corrugated iron canopy has "Ford" painted in large letters on it. "Henderson's Garage" is painted on the brick wall above the canopy and a separate commercial sign saying "Henderson's Garage" is mounted on top of the brick facade wall. Printed at the top of the image in red ink is the title "Henderson's Garage, Marshall, Texas." Printed on the left edge of the back: "39288 - Frey Wholesale Post Card Co., Pubs., Dallas." Color halftone postcard of the Hotel Marshall, 210 E. Houston St., Marshall, Texas, which was built in 1929. The view is taken from the east and shows the facade and east side of the eight story building, as well as part of the two-story red brick Mahon Building to the hotel's east. There is a sidewalk canopy across the facade with 2nd floor balcony on top of it and what appears to be a terrace surrounding the eighth floor. There are automobiles parked on the street. Interior Trinity Episcopal Church, Marshall, Texas

Color halftone postcard of the interior of Trinity Episcopal Church, Marshall, Texas, located at the northeast corner of N. Grove St. and W. Houston St., probably photographed in the 1920s. The view is taken from the back of the church looking up the aisle toward the altar with the pews on either side. A dominant feature is the open timber roof.
