Before the Battle of the Alamo, Commander Travis drew a line and told those who wished to try to escape what was apparently certain death, to step across the line, but not a man crossed the line. The Alamo today is the shrine of lovers of liberty."

Postcard addressed to Katharine Bahl, "Mrs. J. P. Bahl", of Waco, Texas, from Harry Bahl in San Antonio. Harry states he is having a "good time" and anticipates he will be home soon. The front of the post card depicts a large pagoda at the Japanese Tea Garden in San Antonio. At left, people walk past footpaths lined with ferns onto stairs that lead to the leftmost wing of the pagoda. Along the bottom of the picture is a lower section of the park, below the pagoda, which contains more pathways, stone walls holding garden planters, and an arched stone bridge over a calm pond lined with bushes and flowers.

There are several nurses wearing full length dresses and aprons on the lawn. The back of the postcard includes the printed text, "P. and S. Hospital is a private hospital erected by a number of the very best doctors in the city." and handwritten correspondence. The correspondence is addressed to Mr. [and Mrs.?] Berry, and reads, "Dear [...] [Fanny] and Mildred will be there next Sunday morning if nothing [...]."

A colored postcard to Mr. Ed Lauderdale, Von Ormy, Texas, discussing the sender's expectation for Lauderdale's arrival. The handwriting reads, "I will expect your arrival the last of this month." The postcard has a photograph of military personnel standing in Fort Sam Houston for roll call.

Postcard addressed to Mr. Edward Lauderdale of the 359th Infantry Co. San Antonio, Texas, Camp Travis. There is a black-and-white photograph of a flag ship with personnel on board on the front, with color illusrations of the U.S. flag on either side of the image. The handwriting on the back of the postcard reads, "Suppose you will be surprised to get a card from me. Saw a picture of you at Kirk, Sun. so thought I'd write in hopes that you might favor me with one. Send me one any way before you leave for France. Sincerely Lydia Biel."
