Postcard of the Anson Mills Building. The Anson Mills Building is a historic building located at 303 North Oregon Street in El Paso, Texas. The building stands on the original site of the 1832 Ponce de León ranch. Anson Mills hired Henry C. Trost of the Trost and Trost architectural firm to design and construct the building. At the time, Henry C. Trost was the area's foremost pioneer in the use of reinforced concrete in building design. Built in 1910-1911, the building was only the second concrete-frame skyscraper in the United States, and one of the largest all-concrete buildings. At 145 feet (44 m), the 12-story Mills Building was the tallest building in El Paso when it was completed. The architectural firm of Trost and Trost moved its offices to the building upon completion, where they remained until 1920. The Mills family sold the building in 1965. The building stands on a corner site opposite San Jacinto Plaza, with a gracefully curved street façade that wraps around the south and east sides. Like many of Trost's designs, the Anson Mills Building's overall form and strong verticality, as well as details of the ornamentation and cornice, are reminiscent of the Chicago …

Valentine's Day postcard from a woman named Peggie to Mrs. M. M. Matlock "wishing you a merry Valentine." The illustration on the front of the card shows to children sitting on a hammock with a large, red heart behind them; the caption below them reads: "I've lost my heart, for good I guess, to somebody at your address."

Postcard written to Mrs. Henry Sleur in Belton, Texas. The letter says "Dear Bessie- Will you give me your mother's numbers as a D.A.R. Was she listed as one, in Austin? I was told to write to Washington for the D.A.R. lineage as I want to trace it beyond 1776. Thank you. Odetta."

Postcard from Ellen to Miss Harthausen, promising to write a letter when she has time. The front of the postcard features an illustration of three buildings lining a street - one two-story building and two one-story buildings. The building on the far right has a sign for a bakery. Two automobiles and a small buggy are parked along the street.

Postcard of Adler's Ranch in Boerne, Texas. Th postcard features a photograph of an l-shaped, two-story building with light-colored wood siding and a wrap-around front porch. Much of the ranch house is obscured by tall trees, and there is a wooden fence surrounding the house and lawn. There are several men in white dress shirts sitting in chairs on the front lawn, and one of the men is pictured translucently in several different spots (due to long-exposure photography). There are handwritten notes around the photograph, reading: "Here we are stopping, a kiss from Papa, Apr 7-08." The back of the postcard is blank except for postcard markings.

Postcard from L. & A. to Mr. Lon Hale, discussing their home, which they say is near the scene depicted on the postcard. The front of the postcard features a photograph of a small, sloped mountain covered with trees at the top and base of the mountain, and dotted with trees around the middle. At the base of the largest part of the slope are three buildings - two barns and one two-story house with columns.

Postcard from Rose Chamberlin to Ora Osterhout. The photo on the card depicts a horse, a cow, and a man. The cow has a rope around one of its horns and the other end is tied to the saddle on the horse. The man is standing with one foot on the cow and both hands in the air. He is wearing a cowboy hat, a shirt over a white one, pants, and dark boots. The scene is in the middle of a prairie. On the bottom of the front and the back, Rose wrote bits of local news.

Postercard from Lillian G. to Junia Roberts Osterhout. On the back, Lillian wrote some brief news about San Antonio, TX and that she found the postcard in a Japanese store. The front of the card has gold embossed images of huts by a lake, birds, and a boat. The background consists of a mountain with a white top and clouds.

Letter from Doris Tanner to Rigdon Edwards discussing changes that should be made to the Fifinella monument. The front is a picture of the Haywood County Courthouse in Brownsville, Tennessee.

Card with letter from F. L. Diaggne to Harris Leon Kempner notifying him that he has to appear for special Jury Service on May 14, 1956. And Diaggne mentions that if he's an exempt he has to claim but no person other than Judge has the authority to excuse him from this jury service. And failure to obey this will cost him between $10 to $100.

Postcard of the Dallas Model Fire Station, a two-story building with a tower extending another story in one of its corners. The base of the building has garage doors with labels corresponding to the type of fire engine it houses. There is a large, red brick building in the background that says, "Southern Rock Island Plow Co." The back of the postcard has a handwritten message by the sender to the addressee.

Postcard from Clarence W. Conor to George Pendexter regarding different collections of photographs. The photograph on the backside of the card shows a view of a fireman sitting in an old fire engine belonging to the Stratford Fire Department in Stratford, Connecticut. This vehicle has a ladder attached to its side, a basket with a water hose on top, and an alarm bell on the far back.
