A one story porch with simple square posts spans the facade.

[Photograph Album and Scrap Book of Laurita A. Lyttleton, 1920-1922]

Nine disbound leaves from an album of Laurita Addison Lyttleton (later Mrs. John Hugh Hill), covering the years 1920-1922. The major part of the content is snapshots pasted on the pages of an album with printed headings. The photographs of Laurita and her friends are cut into a variety of shapes, and handwritten notes accompany the photos. Some of the photographs were taken in Marshall, where Laurita attended high school, and others are from her year (1921-22) at Randolph Macon College in Ashland, VA. Photos include many shots of girls posing or playing together, including wearing costumes for the 1922 New Year's Ball. It also includes the printed list of Randolph Macon freshmen, and a handwritten poem by Laurita about her 1920 high school class and a newspaper clipping about class spirit.

[First Air Mail Service to Marshall, Texas]

Photograph showing 10 men standing in front of a Trans-Texas Airways plane around a cart with mailbags. A woman and a man are looking on through the cabin door, and the cargo door is open. This is a photograph taken by the newspaper's photographer to cover the initial flight of the first air mail route through Marshall, Texas. The dignitaries are wearing hats and suits, and a few are wearing overcoats. The airline crew members are wearing uniforms, but no jackets. "News Messenger" is printed at the lower right corner of the photo.

Scene on North Square - Marshall, Texas

Photo-postcard of the northeast corner of the Harrison County Courthouse square in Marshall, Texas, ca. 1952. Recknagel Drug Store is in the left foreground and the trees next to the courthouse are on the right. The courthouse is not visible. Hotel Marshall is visible, as well as Home Furniture Co. and Kariel Clo. Co. on the east side of the square, and electric fans are visible in a few of their second floor windows. The street and most of the parking spaces are empty. A street light is on the corner as well as a telephone pole and wires. At the bottom of the image is the title "Scene on North Square - Marshall, Texas." The code 6-J-16 is on the lower right. The postmark on the back is Wascom, Texas, Dec 12, 1952. The card is addressed to Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Fleming, Woodbine, Maryland. The format, quality, and number code are almost identical to another card in this collection with the publisher's name W. M. Cline Co., Chattanooga, printed on it, and this card was probably produced by the same company.

Visible in the background are a wood arm chair with a vertical slat back, patterned wallpaper, fireplace with mantlepiece with pictures and ornaments on it and faced with gathered cloth. On the hearth is a framed fireplace screen consisting of a framed lithographic print of a seated young woman with an admirer next to her holding an oar in his right hand.
