Her hair is parted and pulled back behind her ears. She is wearing a dark dress with buttons up the front and a lace collar pinned at her neck. The photographer's imprint on the back of the card is: "J. H. Webster, Photograph Galleries, Marshall and Jefferson, Texas." Mrs. Rankin was a teacher in the private school run by her husband in San Augustine, Texas, in 1837 and 1838.

Photograph of William A. Polk, head and shoulders against a light background. He has a moustache and is wearing a light shirt, dark jacket and a bow tie. The photographer's imprint at the bottom of the card is "Texas Photo Company." Written in pencil on the back of the card is the name William A. Polk and the names of other family members. Polk was a bachelor, with no children, and lived in San Augustine, Texas.

Photograph of an unidentified woman holding a small book in one hand and holding the hand of a woman standing behind her. The photograph appears to have been cut down from a larger photograph. According to the inscription on the back, she is wearing a dress designed by Frances Bernard Price for the bridesmaids of her cousin Jane Roberts of San Augustine, Texas.

Cabinet card photograph of Mary McAllister, three-quarters view, head and shoulders. She is wearing a light colored dress or blouse with high neck and flowers pinned next to the collar. Her hair is pulled back. Born in 1880, she was 17 years old when this photograph was taken. [Although the date 1917 is written on the bottom of the mount card, another copy of this photograph in the family collection bears the date June 21, 1897.] The photographers' imprint at the bottom of the card and on the back is Bruce & Corti, Marshall, Texas.

Windows with Venetian blinds are visible behind the group and decorative knights' shields hang on the wall. Three men are sitting in the center front, two holding swords in front of them and twenty men stand behind them. The title "Eureka No. 2 K. of P. Degree Team" is printed in the center of the bottom of the print. On the lower right is printed "Photo by Parker-Corti, Marshall, Tx. Handwritten in ink on the lower right of the mount board are "Pop, K. P.," indicating that one of the men was Marion Sims McCutchan, Sr.

Photographs include interior and exterior shots of the family home at 2105 Rosborough Springs Road, Marshall, Texas, and the barn. Most of the photos show the three sons of the family, Robert Lewis McCutchan, born 1903, Marion Sims McCutchan, Jr., born 1905, and Kenneth Shannon McCutchan, born 1912, but a few photos also include their parents Sims, Sr. and Mary.

Some are wearing suits and jackets, others in white shirts and ties. Two have mail delivery bags over their shoulders and one bag is resting on the pavement. Cast iron storefront columns are visible in the background as well as the framework supporting the sidewalk awning. Handwritten at the bottom of the photograph is the the caption: "Pop", Sims McCutchan, Sr. Marshall Post Office Employers [sic] 19. Mr. McCutchan is identified in the photograph by the word "Pop" written above his head and an arrow pointing to him. Edges of the mount board have been broken off.

Seven men are seated and four are standing behind them. Five of those seated are wearing robes and regalia, and the others are wearing suits and ties. The windows in the lodge room have dark wood Venetian blinds. Painted on an arched window without blinds, above the central window, are the words "Eureka Lodge No. 2, K. of P." (The letters are backward to be read from the exterior of the building.) The man in the center is seated on a large, throne-like, high-backed chair. Two decorative armorial shields are mounted on either side of the central window. The man on the far left is holding a sword over his shoulder. On the lower right is printed "Photo by Parker-Corti, Marshall, Tx. "

Photograph of elaborate decorative display window of the Marshall Candy Kitchen & Ice Cream Parlor. At the base of the window approximately 50 small bottles of Welch's grape juice are arranged with three dolls behind and larger bottles of Welch's juice. More smaller bottles are on a glass shelf behind and above with decorative paper figures of children drinking juice and an arrangement of artificial grapes and grape leaves. The name Marshall Candy Kitchen & Ice Cream Parlor is painted on the glass of the display window. Impressed in the bottom of the mount board is the photographer's name: Cockrell Studio, Marshall, Texas. Two yellow paper notes have been stuck on the back by the seller confirming the subject and one of which gives the estimated date of ca. 1910. The Marshall Candy Kitchen is listed in the 1912 Marshall city directory.

Studio portrait of Washington Irving Carroll, three-quarters view, seated in a chair, with one hand resting on the arm of the chair and the other hand holding the lapel of his jacket. He is wearing a suit, vest and tie. The photographer's name is printed in the lower right corner of the photograph. Carroll, originally from St. Louis, served as minister of the First Presbyterian Church, Marshall, Texas, from Nov. 7, 1920 to Feb. 19, 1934. Written in pencil on the back: "Probably Washington Irving Carroll, D D, Pastor of 1st Presbyterian Church, Marshall, TX 1920s to early 30s. Stamped on the back: "Please credit Strauss Portrait, St. Louis."

Group photograph of an elementary school baseball team and their teacher seated on the steps of the school. The nine boys are wearing their school clothes, but a few appear to wear athletic shoes. They each have a mitt and two hold bats. The female teacher sits beside the boys, wearing high button shoes, and holds a baseball in her hands. Part of a bicycle is visible in the background. Written below the second boy from the right is the name Sims, Jr., 1915. Written on the back of the board are the names of a few of those in the picture. In the first row the teacher: Miss Louise Adams, boy to her right: Joe Cockrell, boy on the far right: Laurie Martin, boy to his left, Sims McCutchan, Jr. On the second row, only the middle boy is identified giving only his last name, Applebaum. The double doors of the school are open behind the group.

Written in ink on the back: "South Marshall School student body and teachers around 1917. (School built 1916.) M. S. McCutchan Jr., longtime employee of Marshall post office is in the picture but identification is not possible. Poss in left hand of picture very top is L. P. Martin, later owner of Marshall Cotton Oil [operating in the 1940s & 1950s on West Grand] is on far left, McCutchan is to his right(?)."

Photograph of a large group of women and two children, identified on the back of the photograph as the Women's Group of the First Presbyterian Church of Marshall, Texas. Most are sitting on the front steps of the Sunday School building, but nine are standing at the back of the group. Many of the women are wearing cloche hats. Two small labels with the following writing are attached on the back: "Womens Group 1st Pres. Church, Marshall, 1920s or early 1930s. Sunday School bldg, 1st Pres Marshall, demolished ca. 1957."

Nine disbound leaves from an album of Laurita Addison Lyttleton (later Mrs. John Hugh Hill), covering the years 1920-1922. The major part of the content is snapshots pasted on the pages of an album with printed headings. The photographs of Laurita and her friends are cut into a variety of shapes, and handwritten notes accompany the photos. Some of the photographs were taken in Marshall, where Laurita attended high school, and others are from her year (1921-22) at Randolph Macon College in Ashland, VA. Photos include many shots of girls posing or playing together, including wearing costumes for the 1922 New Year's Ball. It also includes the printed list of Randolph Macon freshmen, and a handwritten poem by Laurita about her 1920 high school class and a newspaper clipping about class spirit.

Black and white photo-postcard of the Marshall Country Club, Marshall, Texas, probably taken in the 1920s. A grassy area is in the foreground and a stream, lake, or water feature runs from left to right, with a narrow wooden bridge crossing it and what looks like a small shack on the opposite bank at the foot of the bridge. Beyond that is the club house in a Craftsman bungalow style, with a side gable roof. The multiple windows on the section next to the door indicate that part of the building was probably a screened area. There are multiple trees along the banks of the water. At the bottom of the image in white letters is the title, "Marshall Country Club, Marshall, Texas" on the left, and on the right "Howard's Stud, Marshall, Texa." There is no postmark or message on the back of the card. Stamped in small letters on the left edge of the card: "Pub. by Photo & Art Postal Card Co., 444 Broadway, N.Y."
