The First Three Tanks into Manila

Photograph of the first three American tanks that invaded Manila during World War II and their crews. On the far left is "Yankee" with Private First Class Don Malmfeldt, Sergeant Lawrence, Corporal Bernardo, and Private First Class Ladato. In the middle is "Battle Basic," which was the first to break down the walls of the Santo Tomas prison camp. Its commander is Captain Jesse Walters, but the rest of its crew is unidentified. The tank to the right, "Old Miss," is commanded by Lieutenant Robert E. Lee.
