While shopping, Powers crashed his car into a concrete abutment on the S Robinson underpass, caving in the front of his 1947 model car. He suffered minor cuts and bruises and was charged with negligent driving. "I was figuring on a new car in the near future, and wasn't watching my driving," Powers told B. Lewellen and J. M.
