A barn and a few buildings are visible in the background. The back of the photograph proclaims, "Flood damage on U. S. Highway No. 281 north of Alva, Oklahoma following a 4 inch rain. This highway was also washed out in 1957. This excessive runoff water in Salt Fork is carrying many tons of silt which is a loss to everyone, city and rural people alike."
