[McDaniel Home, Abilene]

Photograph of the first home of Lavinia Parker McDaniel and George W. McDaniel in Abilene, Texas. This Victorian-era home, located at 774 Butternut, was built with lumber from the lumberyard of Robert Henry Parker, Lavinia Parker's father. The house has two stories, though the front is obscured by tall bushes and trees. A dormer emerges from the central hip roof which forms two gable ends in the front and one on each side of the house (one visible, at left). The house has two chimneys, and is bordered by a white picket fence. Members of the McDaniel family stand in front of the house, with the women standing behind the fence, a man in a vest and hat standing near the fence's gate, and four children standing or sitting on the dirt road.
