Burn Recovery Area

Photograph of increased growth of switchgrass compared to earlier photos. This area was burned in August 1963. Switchgrass which spreads by rhyzomes was less damaged than bunch type grasses.

Range Fire Recovery

Photograph of buffalo grazing on area athat burned in March 11, 1967 east of highway north of Cache gate. This fire was of incendiary origin. Quanah-Elk Mountain pasture. Animals tend to concentrate grazing on areas that have been burned.
