Mr. Widney uses alfalfa in his conservation crop rotation. This was seeded in the fall of 1952. For a nurse crop, ½ bushel of wheat per acre cross-drilled in wide-spaced rows (every other row drilled). Wheat realized 20 bushels per acre. The utilization of alfalfa has been a spring hay crop, seed crop in the summer, and fall pasture. He has another planting of alfalfa to be in a 3-year rotation. He has been a soil conservation district cooperator since 1948. OK-279-10.
