[Insurrectos Amongst the Hills]

Photograph of insurrectos and their horses in between the rifts of hills. Many of the insurrectos have gotten off of their horses and have gathered near the center of the photo, perhaps to rest or discuss matters. Information on the back of the photo states that this photo was taken in February 1911 in Ojinaga, Mexico. At this time, the city of Ojinaga was still well under the control of Federal forces. The surrounding countryside however, was another story, as the region was controlled by insurrecto forces. They were led by Jose de la Cruz Sanchez.

Information on the back of the photo identifies the photo as having been taken in Ciudad Juarez in February 1912 and states that the generals were in the midst of an argument.

["Melchor Ocampo" in Fraile]

A combine second and first class coach, No. 7 named "Melchor Ocampo" is the rear-end car on the Coahuila and Zacatecas Railroad's passenger train which has made a station stop at the small town of Fraile on February 23, 1960. Along these narrow gauge rails in the early 1920s bandits frequently staged holdups of trains carrying payrolls in gold and silver to the mines at Concepcion del Oro.
