Restoration & Repair to Legation de France, Austin, Texas. For The Daughters of the Republic of Texas

These are the blueprints of the restoration of the Legation de France, now the French Legation Museum maintained by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. The architectural renderings were drawn in white on three sheets, each of which is labeled in part of the title box at the bottom of every page (in the lower right corner). The first page includes three drawings. The main drawing shows a floor plan of the building and is labeled: First Floor Plan. Scale 1/4:=1'-0". To the right, a tilted drawing shows the "Plot Plan" and a smaller drawing below is labeled: Column Detail. Scale 3"=1'-0" The title box in the lower right corner includes a revision date (11-1-'55) and there is a stamp of a seal above the box. Also at the bottom of the page are two signatures granting approval for the project including Mrs. Barclay Megarity (text below, "For Owner: Mrs. Margaret Megarity) and Louis Runnels (text below, "Contractor: Louis Runnels). Birdseye Perspective from Northwest, Restoration Legation de France, Austin, Texas, For Daughters of the Republic of Texas

Architectural drawing in pencil of several buildings and the surrounding grounds overlaid on a second, colored drawing. There is a compass in the upper righthand corner and two floorplans outside of the main drawing. In the upper lefthand corner, there is a floorplan of the stable and carriage house with the scale listed as 1/8"=1'.0" (Scale= 1:96) and in the lower righthand corner is a floorplan of the loft at the same scale. Along the right side of the page, the "Legend" lists five numbered issues that the drawing represents: (1) Rebuild stable and carriage house, (2) Remove brick terrace, (3) Replace outswing'g. casements, (4) Remove brick chimney caps, and (5) Complete stone walls. [Flyer: Experimental Salon Art Strike]

Flyer regarding a performance sketch of the Experimental Salon Art Strike of 1990 to 1993. The sketch was written by Honoria, performed by John Held, Jr., and held at the Mexic-Arte Museum in Austin, Texas on March 10th, 1993. The paper is perforated in a grid pattern, with a stamp in each rectangle. The stamps feature an ink drawing of a nude, kneeling figure as viewed from behind. The figure appears to be working with rubber stamps. Each stamp reads: "Performance John Held Jr. Art Strike 1990. Library of rubber stamps."

[Political cartoon of Jerry Falwell]

This document includes a political cartoon featuring Jerry Falwell, published in the Austin American-Statesman. The cartoon depicts Falwell in pajamas praying at his bed. "Jerry Falwell" is written on the headboard of the bed; a portrait of Falwell hangs above the headboard. A lamp, a Mickey Mouse doll, and a copy of the Bible are on the nightstand beside the bed. The cartoon's caption (Falwell's prayer) reads, "We thank thee for the gifts of thy bountiful herpes and thine blessed AIDS, O, Lord...Now send us something for all the other weirdos." To the right of the kneeling Falwell, the speech balloon of a character with an elongated nose reads, "Our cup runneth over".
