On the other side is printed: "Rev. Arthur B. Chaffee, D. D., President." Written in pencil above Chaffee's name: "Nannie J. Brackens, Waxahachie, Tex @ home Olive, Tex." Bishop College was established in 1881 as a Baptist college for African Americans in Texas. The school moved to Dallas in 1961. The campus was sold the same year. Its buildings were demolished.
