Cantos Rituales

Recording of Manuel Rocha Iturbide's Cantos Rituales. The main idea behind this work was to search for different kinds of field sound recordings based in prayers and ritual singing from all around the world. These recordings were then processed through a computer and combined in order to make this composition. The composer describes this piece as a hymn dedicated to all humankind, where they are seeking a spiritual unity common to all, regardless of their culture and beliefs.

Retroscena

Recording of Francesco Galante's Retroscena. This work revolves around the voice of Carmelo Bene, Italian actor, and creates an "acousmatic theatre" by means of electroacoustic music. Voice samples were used as well as segments from Bene's studies around Russian and Soviet poetry, specifically the works of Alexander Blok and Vladimir Majakovskij. The composer dedicates this work to Carmelo Bene and considers this piece a sound exploration into the "backstage" of Bene's voice experience.

INIT

The sounds used in the composition have different origins, amongst which stone, water, shells, and bell-like sounds stand out. The title, which roughly translates to "following next", describes the character of the piece. The composer states that the raw materials came from the Kurzweil K-2000 sampler, however, there are instrumental sounds.
